I'm 36 years old, and have been a "couch potato" for most of my life. When I was in my teens I exercised only once in a while and also went to the gym for about 4 months. All my life I More ...
I'm 36 years old, and have been a "couch potato" for most of my life. When I was in my teens I exercised only once in a while and also went to the gym for about 4 months.
All my life I have been struggling with diets and bad nutrition, and because of that, my self-esteem was very low. I tried many different diets;I thought it was normal if everybody was on a diet, why not do it too. Nothing seems to work according to my expectations and the weight kept coming back. With no nutritional guidance I was lost. When I came to realize it, I was in the worst shape of my life, the biggest I've ever been. I was 220 lbs!!! Then I lost some weight with "magic" shakes and pills, but my body was very weak and saggy, not very nice.
Sometime in 2008, I was pet-sitting at a friend's house and watched the P90X infomercial. I loved the challenge of loosing weight and build muscle. It took me a while to order it but I did, watched it, did the fit test but it wasn't for me, not yet. I started Power90 keeping it as a lifestyle and got some great results. I just followed the program 30 min. a day no matter what. I continued using Power90 for months and just when I was ready to step up to the next level I got sick. In 2009 I had an Emergency Surgery to remove my gallbladder, I was devastated. During recovery I gained back the weight and my low self-esteem was low again, plus I couldn't do any exercise for a long time. I fell in a big deep dark hole, depressed and mad because just a little time before this happened I was in good shape. This year 2010, I decided I wouldn't take it anymore, it was enough. My journey is going to continue stronger than ever and at my own pace so I accepted the challenge again. Today I'm in my 2nd round of P90X, 144 pounds leaner and stronger, gaining muscle and doing things I couldn't dream of doing even in my teens.
I love to help people and more so if its helping them to reach their fitness goals.
I specially thank God for giving me the life, the strength, the will and drive to keep going. Thanks to the people on the message boards and friends on the different social networks for your support which sometimes is hard to find. Thanks Dreya Webber for being such an inspiration. Thank you so much Tony Horton and Beachbody. I got my life back and my journey goes on....
