New Freedom, PA For as long as I can remember I’ve been happily exercising in one form or another. From dance classes to cheerleading, I was hooked. My passion for dance continued to excel, getting involved in a high school dance company and cheering all the way through college and eventually going pro for the Washington Redskins in 1988-1990.

My passion for dance continued to excel, getting involved in a high school dance company and cheering all the way through college and eventually going pro for the Washington Redskins in 1988-1990.
However, it wasn't until my senior year of high school that I discovered teaching fitness classes---not only to adults but to 2nd and 5th graders. Today, with a full-time job, a husband, and a mother of two active children, I feel blessed to have continued that passion and drive to help others become healthy and fit. As a Team Beachbody Coach, and a fitness instructor (teaching TurboKick--the gym version of Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Hustle) I am so excited to be promoting fitness programs that really work for people!
My latest accomplishment -- Completing Shaun T's Insanity Workout. Overall I lost more than 5" and developed more lean muscle! The workout was tough, but it helped me push myself beyond my own limits and become more athletic. And for the first time ever, it got my husband working out with me! This is a great workout to do with your spouse, a friend, or a family member to keep you accountable to the very end! Even my sister and her daugther are doing the workout together. Don't get complacent or let fear stand in your way. For me the Insanity workout helped me accomplish more than just physical goals, it allowed me to dig deep within myself and push myself mentality. There were 2 distinct times in my life that fitness and health strayed. The first, at college! Like most people I did gain weight, (although instead of gaining the freshman 10, I gained the sophomore 20+). A couple of things contributed to this ---2 family member deaths close together, and the everyday pressure of college living (staying up late studying and college parties). To get back on track, I did everything from drinking Slim Fast shakes, to running the college track (sometimes at 11:00 at night), to teaching 3 classes a day twice a week. However adequate nutrition played havoc with my fitness and weight loss goals. One of the biggest influences to help me turn things around and get my life back in balance was my boyfriend, now husband. A natural athlete he provided all of the right support and motivation to get my eating under control by teaching me not having to finish everything on my plate, and even jogged with me!
The second health-fit awareness came after giving birth to 2 children! Losing weight with the first was pretty easy, considering I exercised until the day my son was born. The pounds seemed to melt off very quickly. However, it wasn’t until my daughter arrived that finding time to exercise became more of a challenge. Juggling a career and now 2 children, and lack of sleep, I was finding I was too tired to exercise. To make matters worse I had stopped teaching fitness classes.
Here is where my life started to take a dramatic transformation. I needed balance in my life---and although happily married with 2 great kids, something was still missing. This is where spirituality came into my life and was the key to improving the quality and making my life balanced. After listening to a sermon about honoring God with our bodies, and how important it was to use the talents and gifts that God had installed in each of us to use and serve others I had what Oprah likes to describe as a "Aha" moment. Immediately I felt compelled to get back into the fitness-teaching arena but this time teaching at my local church. After organizing a small church group that met weekly to exercise, we quickly maxed out the space. Needing a bigger facility, and with what I like to call divine intervention, I met a woman named Julie Ayres, who at the same time in another church was also teaching fitness classes. Here’s the really great part ---space was not an issue for her, but she needed another instructor to help teach classes. Bingo, we hit it off right away, and to make a long story short, it was the collaboration of what was known as Motion and Devotion.
After running Motion and Devotion for more than 10 years I came in contact with Carl Daikeler--high school buddy, and CEO of Beachbody. After talking with him, I decided to become a Online Fitness Coach for Beachbody and couldn't be happier. Not only am I still able to help and guide people to healthier lifestyles, my own health is better than ever and I am able to be with my family more than running out every night to teach a class. The best news is even my husband and kids are involved with doing BB programs such as Insanity and The Asylum. These products and workouts can help you and your family. No excuses---get everyone involved and make it fun. Be the example and leader in your family!
