I'm 42 years old and haven't seriously worked out in almost two decades. As
a young man I vigorously studied several martial arts styles and at one point
owned my own karate school. Then about 18 years ago I broke my back in a
car accident -- five fractures and three herniated discs. The doctor told me if
I didn't quit doing martial arts I'd lose the ability to walk. Since then I've
