I am a previously healthy 30 year old surgical resident physician in Pennsylvania with 2 beautiful daughters and a gorgeous wife.
I grew up in Southern Wyoming on a cattle ranch, where my free time was spent flyfishing, hunting, golfing, and basically staying very active. I was an avid wrestler in high school, and continued to workout with the wrestling team at University of Wyoming. I would say I was always a small, skinny...yet strong kid growing up. After I was pulled away from wrestling with a shoulder injury, I began to put on lean muscle by spending time in the gym. However, I never instilled a nutrition plan and followed the usual college diet consisting of beer, junk food, and basically a lack of activity.
Although I had bad habits, I continued to stay in the gym. I met my wife after college and she helped me to eat better and stay in shape, as she is an avid runner and healthy eater. This continued for a couple years after being married. But...then medical school happened.
I went to Iowa to attend and graduate 4 years of medical school, at which time I slowly faded away from the gym. The late nights of studying, as well as a new baby girl became the reality, and the trips to the gym became fewer and fewer.
Now, I have two beautiful girls, and am a surgical resident physician in Pennsylvania and busier than ever. Needless to say, I have become out of shape, soft around the middle, and losing valuable energy. I have noticed my blood pressure rising higher and higher, and my pants getting tighter and tighter...in fact, I can't even wear a few pairs of pants that used to be comfortable.
So...I have had enough! It is time to turn my life around before things get really out of control. With that said...I am jumping-in feet first to P90x! I have all the tools I need, including motivation. I have begun to chat with a number of WONDERFUL P90x-ers who have given me great advice, and valuable tips on how to succeed. Moreover, they have giving me inspiration and motivation to push through the pain! I am becoming more and more impressed with this community the more I explore and research. The profiles and transformation stories are fascinating. It gives me the needed confirmation that I am not alone.
So, here's to P90x...
Stay tuned to the transformation of Doctor Dshad!!
