Silver City, NM I am a 71-year-old, divorced (two grown sons), retired (from newspaper reporting and editing and hospital administration) who has been a runner for most of my live (several marathons, including Boston in 2006), with plans to run the Amsterdam Marathon on Oct. 21, 2012. On Feb. 1, 2012 (I am writing this on Jan. 28) I will begin a pre-training plan that incorporates P90X (probably the lean I am a 71-year-old, divorced (two grown sons), retired (from newspaper reporting and editing and hospital administration) who has been a runner for most of my live (several marathons, including Boston in 2006), with plans to run the Amsterdam Marathon on Oct. 21, 2012. On Feb. 1, 2012 (I am writing this on Jan. 28) I will begin a pre-training plan that incorporates P90X (probably the lean version) to mainly help build my core, and improve my flexibility and balance. I don't need to lose weight, but it might also benefit my running to increase my upper body strength a bit, although muscles add bodyweight, and runners don't like bodyweight. I am concerned I will have the necessary strength, especially at the beginning, to do the program. This is a new way for me to train for a race, and am very interested to see if it will improve my time.
