Northglenn, CO I was an active child and teenager and involved in competitive sports. Through my 20s it became a little more difficult to maintain my weight and even more difficult as I entered into my 30s. While my friends could switch to diet coke and salad for a few days to drop five pounds, I always had to work out to recognize any kind of weight loss. In my mid-thirties I found the program Body for Life I was an active child and teenager and involved in competitive sports. Through my 20s it became a little more difficult to maintain my weight and even more difficult as I entered into my 30s. While my friends could switch to diet coke and salad for a few days to drop five pounds, I always had to work out to recognize any kind of weight loss. In my mid-thirties I found the program Body for Life and found success with that through 2002 but then burned out on it after following it solely for four years. I was successful with it but needed more variety.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2000 and was undeducated enough to not seek the care of a specialist. I had my daughter in July 2007 and was successful in only gaining 26 pounds during my pregnancy. While in labor, the doctors discovered a problem with my blood and I was diagnosed with Evan's Syndrome - a combination of autoimmunne thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) and anemia. The treatment for this involved high-doses of prednisone (100 mg) and visits to the hematologist three times a week. My situation got progressively worse until finally, in October 2007, the doctors determined to remove my spleen which was working against me. The surgery was successful and within hours, my blood counts were back in the range of normal.
Unfortunately, however, this three month period, with the help of the prednisone and depression, I swelled even bigger and added an additional 40 pound weight gain to my 5'2 1/2" frame.
I finally sought the help of an endocrinologist for my hypothyroidism and began "feeling" better and then one night, my insomnia led me to find Slim in 6 on an infomercial. I saw it and thought "I can do that!" and within a couple of days had it delivered to my home. I started the program in December 2009 and by March 2010 I recognized a 40 pound weight loss and six inches off my hips alone. I lost four pant sizes and two shirt sizes.
I still have quite a journey ahead to continue my weight loss and reach my goal to fit into a size 8 pair of jeans but with my medical issues treated appropriately, eating clean, and these fun, varied, workouts I can do at home, I know I will continue to be successful!

I have to admit - when I first received my Slim in 6 DVDs I watched them. Yes, sat on the couch and watched them - not once - but twice. I then took the big step of actually starting with Start it Up! - the 25 minute workout.
And, admittedly, I didn't know if I would get up and do it the next day - but I did. Each day I felt a little better and did a little more. After a month I moved up to Ramp it Up! - the next step in the Slim in 6 DVDs - the 50 minute workout. I lost inches quicker than I did weight but then the scale started showing the results.
I've now added Hip Hop Abs to my workout selections and have my written goals set - I have determined to make it to my goal and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I want to be in the best shape of my life by the time I turn 40 (December 2010).
If I can do this - anyone can!
