I am a 41 year old mother and special education teacher who has always been interested in health, nutrition, and physical fitness. I had been working out- on and off- for most of my life. Sticking to a program had always been difficult for me though. Boredom or an interruption in schedule (visitors, illness, etc.) always derailed me. After working full time as a teacher, I moved with my husband in August 2009 to Las Vegas and became a stay at home mom. I began drinking too much coffee, snacking on sugary snacks throughout the day, and not moving around as much as I did when I was working. I also grew bored and "stir crazy" in my own home.
Then I met a neighbor (mom of one of my daughter's new friends) who helped me get on track by getting me out of the house and into the gym once in a while. She is and was an excellent "coach" and motivator who really got me excited about getting healthy again. Although I love the gym, many times I had other responsibilities which prevented me from getting there as much as I wanted. I learned through my friend, Brandi, about Team Beachbody and got to try out P90X. Since then I have started working again. It is still perfect for me as I can do the program whenever I can fit it in (usually early mornings now before the kids wake up). It is challenging but not so much that I am discouraged. Now that I am a coach, it is even more of an incentive to keep with the program! My husband has already noticed the change in my self-esteem, positive attitude, and energy level. My children are starting to follow my example by eating more fruits and healthier snacks, and even want to try the Shawn T. Fit Kids!
