In 2004, after 8 years off from college, I decided to go back to college and finish my degree. I weighed 220 at this point in my life. During this time, I started and stayed hardcore on the Atkins diet and actually got down to about 178lbs. I was in shock about the transformation my body just had. After about one and a half years of being thin (because I was still out of shape)the weight crept back slowly.
Working out was never my forte through high school. I remember guys that would always invite me to workout with them, but I never did it because I was too intimidated. I found P90X after my sister-in-law started doing it in 2007. I decided to buy it as I was slowly watching my father-in-law die after years of smoking and bad health. I did the investigation and bought it online in May 2008.
Late June 2008, I started the program. My efforts were interrupted by a cruise to Alaska in early September. We returned to Texas for me to find out my customers from my job were all "jumping ship" from the product I was selling them. The economy was tanking and I had no income to speak of to support my family. Two days after Christmas, my father-in-law passed after a month long battle in the hospital. It was tough for my wife and I decided to make sure at that point that I wasn't going to do that to my wife and children later in life.
My search for a job was long, but in January, 2009, I finally landed a job in the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as a conservatorship worker. It is a very stressful position.
February rolled around and our bass player mentioned that we need to do a "biggest loser" contest with our praise team members. So February 2, 11 people started doing whatever they were going to do to lose weight by June 21st. I restarted P90X and haven't looked back. I won that little competition. My official weigh in was 210lbs and 34.5% body fat. As of today, July 23, 201d0, I weigh 171lbs and 14% body fat.
I am now to the place where I can bring it everyday the way I should have the first time through. I've started a hybrid that includes P90X, Insanity and RevAbs, so big transformation is on the way for me. I can't wait to see what my abs look like!
I became a coach in April 2009. It is the best decision I have ever made. I'm having lots of fun working out and making friendships and money doing it. You can too! Join me in this great journey!
