Havelock, NC I was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1958. After the turbulant teen years I joined the U. S. Navy. I retired from the Navy in 1990. I began Martial Arts training in 1996. The school I started training at is now MY SCHOOL. At the age of forty eight I became the proud father of a son. He is now 4 1/2 years old and I need all the energy I can muster to keep up with him. I want to set a good I was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1958. I want to set a good example for him and my students of Taekwondo. Beach Body seems to be a perfect fit for me. As I stated, I retired from the U. S. Navy in 1990 as a Chief Petty Officer, and I am proud to say that I still fit in my Dress Blue Uniform which I retired in 21 years ago!!! In fact is probably fits better today than it did in 1990.
My fitness goals are simple but at the same time complex. I inherited some bad cardiovascular genes from my parents. I am in a constant battle to stay active for my heart health. Also, diabetes runs in my family. Therefore, staying at an optimum weight is paramount to my overall health and fitness level. I was never really a "nine-to-five" type person. Sitting behind a desk is not what makes my motor run. I am a private person, but also enjoy interacting with people. I guess I am a teacher at heart. I believe that Beachbody does several things. First, it will keep me active and allow me to socialize with people. Secondly, and probably of most importance, it will give me yet another tool to reach people who struggle day to day with weight and fitness. I see all too many people who have a "love affair" with food. I use the analogy of putting gas in your car. You don't fill your car to park it in the garage. The same way you don't eat to sit. Food is fuel and nothing less. If I can help people see this, and with the help of Beachbody get them back on track with a healthy lifestyle, then I believe that I am doing the Lord's work.
I am also an ordained Southern Baptist Minister. In this role, I also see a great need in our churches. The people of God have to MOVE! It has been said that any army lives on it's stomach, but an army is always on the MOVE. Not so with churches. The army of GOD seems more content with being arm-chair quarterbacks. I hope and pray that through Body Gospel, I can reach those whose life and purpose are slipping away. Let us not let another wounded soldier die. Well, I don't know if you can sense the passion I have for fitness and changing people's lives. I think we need to remember how to measure success, "One life at a time", "One soul at a time". Thank you and may God Bless you all
