I have traveled the world and continue to experience and learn new things everyday. I would like to share a little bit about my past so you can get an idea of where I have come from and what I have accomplished up until this point. Let’s take a quick peek back in time...Here it goes! I grew up in Puerto Rico as well as Texas and Connecticut. My father was in the hospitality business and worked for several high end hotels. His job ensured that my family and I were on the move from a very young age. Maybe that’s why I’ve always had the “travel bug.” As a young child and well into my late teens, I was always active and sports minded. While in high school, I was on the swim, tennis and sailing teams. I loved participating in group activities and being part of the team. Unfortunately, once I went to college, all of my sporting activities stopped. I gained the "freshman 15" and here is where the problem began. I held onto that “freshman 15” plus a little more through out my time in college and even sometime after. After graduation I moved to New York City to work in the financial industry. I loved the fast paced lifestyle and high pace energy of working in this field. During my career in financial services, I spent a lot time traveling and I was always on the go. By the way, did I mention that I LOVE to TRAVEL….. the farther the better!! Anyway, the problem for me was that when I was traveling for business, I would often skip important meals like breakfast and lunch. I was up early and running around all day visiting clients and doing presentations that sometimes I would forget to eat. The day flies by and the next thing you know I’m having a late dinner and then it’s time for bed. So not only did I skip important meals, I never made it to the gym or got to work out on a regular basis. It was a very hectic lifestyle but I was so focused on my career that I didn't realize how much my health was suffering. This routine continued for several years before I finally took control of the situation. I had struggled with my weight because I was too busy to STOP, make a plan of action, stick to it and put myself first!! It’s amazing the things I can accomplish in a day now and still find the time to eat right and get my work outs in. I’ve never felt better and I know I can help you get to that place too!! Over the years, I have been a member at several different gyms. One day and once again, I joined a new gym here in NYC. This time I was determined to make a serious change in my life. I researched the most popular classes and read up on the latest work out trends. I needed a change and I wanted results. It turned out that spinning was all the rage so I signed up for a class. Well little did I know at the time that this would be the catalyst to change my life!! One of my spinning instructors advised me that if I take 6 spinning classes per week, I would lose a pound a week. Slow and steady wins the race and I made that commitment, it was time. After going on this spinning kick and seeing the results of my hard work, I thought to myself, “I am spinning so much that I should probably be getting paid for this”. Lol. I then decided to get certified by the Nautilus Institute for Schwinn Indoor Cycling Certification conducted at Equinox Fitness (ACE, AFAA). I also started making adjustments to my eating habits and focusing on healthy choices. I didn't have it all figured out just then but I was definitely on the right track. I reached one of my major goals of losing a lot of the extra weight but now I needed to tighten up!! In the fall of '08, I had the honor to be chosen for a "Beachbody" TEST GROUP called "REV ABS". It was a 90 day intensive program conducted under the celebrity trainer BRETT HOEBEL. The program consisted of a combination of working out 6 days a week (with one day to let the body rest) and balanced nutritious meals daily. I ate 3 meals and 2 snacks a day delivered by 5squares.com. I really learned a lot during the program and that is what I am here to share with you. Some things are quite simple but easy to overlook. One important tidbit was to always have something healthy to eat immediately after every workout. It can be anything from a green apple or a shake to a protein bar. My favorite shake was the P90X® Peak Recovery Formula™ in both Chocolate and Vanilla Whey Protein. Also let's not forget how important it is to take your daily vitamins- the ActiVit® Multi-Vitamins & the Core Omega-3™ and the P90X Peak Health Formula have been personal choices for me. I've recently switched over to the new Shakeology® plan and enjoy one everyday. Shakeology® (has 70 different ingredients in 1 serving)ensures that I get all of the fruits and veggies (and includes wheat grass) for the day. This is very beneficial for our immune system as well. The shakes are also a great solution if you are on the go and do not have a lot of time to prepare something. It’s a 1-STOP-SHOP. I pull my blender out, throw in some unsweetened soy milk and ice with the Shakeology mix and I know that I’m good to go. Another good habit to get into is to make sure you always have some raw almonds or a protein bar in your purse or man bag. P90X® Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar does the trick for me. Believe me, this will come in handy on the days when your sugar levels might be low and you're running from meeting to meeting or chauffeuring the kids from here to there. Smart choices, they can make all the difference. As I mentioned before, I had struggled for years trying to find the discipline and dedication to stick to a solid work out regime but I was missing the big picture. I didn’t need a work out regime only; I needed an overall lifestyle change that encompassed a healthy balance of staying active and working out as well as eating healthy and making smart choices!! This is where my transformation began to take shape and my dedication to a healthy lifestyle was born. This coupled with the fact that I love to interact and help people achieve their own personal goals has inspired me to take my commitment to next level. The next level is helping YOU realize your fitness goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Believe me people, if I can do it...so can YOU! I am here to help you make that happen...Let's start today. Let's get this party started!! If you've struggled like me in the past, the best way to do this...is together!! If you really want it bad enough you have to come and get it. No one can do it for you but I can certainly help you get there!!! I promise you, if in 90 days I was able to transform my body back into the size and shape I was in high school, you can do it too! I am a personal testament to that fact. Come and see for yourself...don't put it off another day. Time waits for no man, let's get down to the business of becoming healthy! | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
