Hey Y'all...just had to say that cause I am a southern girl!! I am 44 but don't feel a day over 29! I am defined as being a wife, mom and nurse(RN). I've been a registered nurse for the past 14 years and have worked in a variety of healthcare settings

Seven years ago I rolled into the hospital room weighing over 300 lbs something like 347lbs....after the baby weight fell off I was still over 300lbs...even at that weight I felt hopeful that I could lose it and started my journey....my last starting point!

I lost the first 50 lbs following the Atkins principles...then hit a wall for about the next year.. I have a history of PCOS which causes insulin resistance, hypothyroidism (that I feel now my then doc was not properly treating) I tried a variety of diet programs, read everything that I could get my hands on and sporadically exercised. I eventually lost 30 more pounds over the next few years.

In 2009, I was having major problems with uterine bleeding, lower abdominal pain, severe fatigue, irritability and migraines. I knew my hormones had never been "right" due to the PCOS. I knew I badly needed a hysterectomy. I saw a bio-identical hormone specialist prior to having a hysterctomy in Dec. 2009. She has literally saved my life. I will never be without "good" hormones again. I never knew how good a person could feel because mine had never been normal and I feel that this had much to do with my weight gain and sluggish weight loss. After seeing her and having her balance my hormones, regulate my thyroid and recommend supplements...I have gained my life back..I lost 36 pounds this past year...2010. I got up off the couch because I had the energy and drive to do this whereas before it was hard to get through my day....I have walked and even started jogging some almost everyday...I have missed very few days that I didn't exercise. I completed 1/2 marathon in Feb of this year..2011! Go me!!! I had an amazing year and I feel better than I did in my 20's..

I feel like my weight loss journey was kind of "messy"...lol..I cannot say one starting point.. The important thing is I started...I started and I was persistent. I'm proud of that...What it does for your self-confidence is "off the hook" good! Hope ya'll find some motivation and get your "off the hook" good on too...Let's Bring IT!!
