However, just like many other fitness enthusiasts, I tend to get "stuck" in a rut--doing the same ole' exercises and eating the same ole' foods, resulting in the same ole' body. In my pre-teen years, I was such a tomboy. Very athletic and stocky in stature. Being chosen before many boys on teams was very cool. However, as I approached my pre-teen years being muscular and athletic was a harder image to swallow. As we all know teenage years can be very difficult and outright ugly. My struggle with body image began when I was about 12 years of age. I started using every yo-yo diet you could think of---ice-cream diet, cabbage diet, and ultimately the starvation diet. My battle with Anorexia Nervosa lasted about 2 years. At 13 and weighing only 55 lbs., I was placed in Tulane Medical Center for intense therapy and treatment. Five months later, my struggle to stay healthy and happy continued. Although my Anorexa is under control, my fitness journey continues to unfold. Topping out at 220 lbs. after three pregnancies and now being 132 lbs. I have learned that being healthy is a daily conscious decision with many challenges and that it takes motivation from others to help me stay on the right path. Eating the right amounts and the right types of food, weight training, cardio, and mind body workouts are truly the only way to achieve a healthy lifestyle. It has been said "It takes a village to raise a family", I think it takes a community, a community like Beach Body to stay HEALTHY.
