Priarieville, LA Working out is like breathing, "gotta have it to live". I AM one of those that truly LOVES to challenge my body in different ways. However, just like many other fitness enthusiasts, I tend to get "stuck" in a rut--doing the same ole' exercises and eating the same ole' foods, resulting in the same ole' body. My first experience of Turbo was in 2006. As a Group Working out is like breathing, "gotta have it to live". I AM one of those that truly LOVES to challenge my body in different ways. However, just like many other fitness enthusiasts, I tend to get "stuck" in a rut--doing the same ole' exercises and eating the same ole' foods, resulting in the same ole' body. My first experience of Turbo was in 2006. As a Group Exercise Instructor, I was teaching aerobic kickboxing. One day, in particular, a student approached me with some Turbo Jam DVDs and said that when she couldn't attend my class that she would workout with Chalene. One look at Turbo Jam and I was immediately hooked. Chalene's format of Turbo Jam was everything I wanted to be as an instructor--the music, the moves, the personality. Today, I am a Presenter and Area Promotions Director for the Powder Blue Productions the creators of PiYo(TM), Hip Hop Hustle(TM), soon to be Turbo Sculpt(TM), and of course Turbo Kick(TM) the health club version of Turbo Jam(TM). As a mother of three--6yr., 5yr., and 3yrs. old, finding the time and most of all the energy to stay healthy is not easy. Thank God for companies like Powder Blue Productions and Beachbody who truly care about helping people achieve their fitness goals the GOOD OLE' FASHION WAY--hard work, sweat, and even sometimes tears. In my pre-teen years, I was such a tomboy. Very athletic and stocky in stature. Being chosen before many boys on teams was very cool. However, as I approached my pre-teen years being muscular and athletic was a harder image to swallow. As we all know teenage years can be very difficult and outright ugly. My struggle with body image began when I was about 12 years of age. I started using every yo-yo diet you could think of---ice-cream diet, cabbage diet, and ultimately the starvation diet. My battle with Anorexia Nervosa lasted about 2 years. At 13 and weighing only 55 lbs., I was placed in Tulane Medical Center for intense therapy and treatment. Five months later, my struggle to stay healthy and happy continued. Although my Anorexa is under control, my fitness journey continues to unfold. Topping out at 220 lbs. after three pregnancies and now being 132 lbs. I have learned that being healthy is a daily conscious decision with many challenges and that it takes motivation from others to help me stay on the right path. Eating the right amounts and the right types of food, weight training, cardio, and mind body workouts are truly the only way to achieve a healthy lifestyle. It has been said "It takes a village to raise a family", I think it takes a community, a community like Beach Body to stay HEALTHY.
