Collinsville, OK As a 51 year old professional musician and minister, staying healthy on the road can be a challenge. Junk food while driving and late meals after concerts left me "sick and tired of being sick and tired." Junk food while driving and late meals after concerts left me "sick and tired of being sick and tired." Most of my concerts are on Sundays in churches and I hated waking up Sunday mornings feeling as tired and worn out as I did when I went to bed the night before. I could make it through usually doing two concerts in two different cities on a Sunday but because of my physical condition I wasn't enjoying the ministry like I wanted to.
In June of 2009 while playing at a conference I ran into a friend of mine who is a year older than me. He looked great! When I asked him what he was doing to look so good he replied, "P90X!" Well, I thought, "If he can do it, I think I'll give it a shot." I went home and found the Beach Body web site and began to check out the various programs.
After some research I learned that at my age and in my physical condition that Beachbody suggested I start with the Power 90 programs as sort of a boot camp to get me started. I ordered Power 90 along with some extra resistance bands and signed up for Team Beachbody. Then my wife Nanette and I went on a working vacation. It was our last hurrah before starting the program. The before photo of me was taken on that vacation on July 28, 2009. I was feeling worse than ever and obviously I looked it.
When we arrived home I immediately started the Fat Burning Express video program that came with Power 90 the next day. Wow. It wasn't easy but I loved it from the very first day. We started eating what the program suggested in the portions that were layed out. I had been addicted, yes, addicted to diet sodas and went off cold turkey the first day and haven't had one since. BOY DO I FEEL GREAT!
After a week on Fat Burning Express I started the Power 90 program.
One push up.
One.
That was all I could do.
One.
And even it wasn't pretty. But I was determined. I was feeling good.
Now I've completed the first 90 days of Power 90 going through phases 1,2,3 & 4. I've lost 20 pounds, 3-4 pant sizes and I'm feeling great! Did I mention I am feeling great? I'm still doing Power 90 phase 3/4 and am looking forward to starting P90X the first of the year.
The Beachbody programs are now a part of my life. Working out has become not only what I do but is part of WHO I AM.
While the workouts are not easy, the program couldn't be more simple. I just "push play." I don't have to think about what I'm going to do, I just "push play." I don't always feel like working out but I just "push play." There are no questions, no internal arguments, I just "push play." Did you get it? JUST PUSH PLAY!
Speaking of "pushing play," this past Thanksgiving (2009) just 114 days after starting the program I even ran my first 5K run in the annual "Turkey Trot" in Kansas City! Yes, I did it! From start to finish. 3.1 miles! IT-WAS-GREAT! When I passed the first mile marker I thought to myself, "Wow, I've never ran a mile straight through in my life. Then I just went ahead and ran the other 2.1. Did I mention, IT-WAS-GREAT! I'm already making plans for next year's run.
Needless to say, my life has changed and your's can too. Just buy the programs and the supplements, get on the eating plan and "JUST PUSH PLAY!"
