My Photos | gunabthin Hi everyone. I'm 68 years young and a new granddad. Because of Million Dollar Body I can say that my life is now on a wholesome and healthy track, one that will give me a great chance to get to know my granddaughter and watch her grow up. I'm 68 years young and a new granddad. Because of Million Dollar Body I can say that my life is now on a wholesome and healthy track, one that will give me a great chance to get to know my granddaughter and watch her grow up. It was during my annual checkup a few months ago that my doctor looked up my weight when I started seeing him about 25 years ago -- a pretty healthy 175 pounds. The nurse had just weighed me in at 230 pounds. In those 25 years, I have had successful prostate cancer surgery with hormone therapy, changed careers in my early 50s and somehow settled into a less active lifestyle. Ten years ago I had a heart attack and fortunately a great recovery. But the weight kept piling on. I topped out at 245 pounds about three years ago. Through WeightWatchers, I had gradually whittled that down to 230 pounds, a long way from my goal of 180 which my doc had given me. Enter MDB, through Hip Hop Abs eighteen weeks ago. I am a different person now because of it. Please read my transformation story to find out why. My wife and I have two grown children with families of their own. Now, at 68, I feel better than when I was in my late 40's and 50s, but I have continued to struggle with exercise. I have learned through much dedicated dieting effort that controlling food intake alone is not going to cure my obesity. It was only when I accepted this with my whole being that my transformation began. I finally knew I had to put a really ambitious exercise program in place and stick to it to make the weight come off. MDB has been my guide to finally finding exercise that I will actually do regularly and that I will be willing to stick with for the long haul. A big part of this is the fun factor in HHA and the motivation of Shaun T. And the most important part is the online forum where I have been accepted and nudged along. Thanks for welcoming me into this great community. My Progress My fitness goal: Transformation story

In my first update, I had been doing HHA for six weeks. My body had begun to change in powerful ways. Weight loss and fewer inches. But the really amazing change was in my energy level which increased dramatically. I also noticed a change in my behavior. Instead of sitting on the couch watching TV and movies, I was up moving around, getting things done. At age 67, who knew I could get such satisfying results so quickly -- in only six weeks! Now, with twenty more weeks under my belt, having added Slim in 6, HHA2, Hip Hop Abs Dance Party, and Power 90 I am continuing to transform. In all, I have lost 18 pounds so far and an amazing 14" combined from my waist, hips and chest. My body fat has dropped over 9 percentage points. All this in 26 weeks. What a great combination -- Shaun T, Debbie and Tony -- for this now 68 year young guy. Thanks to all my Siblings in Sweat for their great encouragement and to Carl and MDB for its rock-solid vision for bringing a healthy lifestyle to everyone. I'm passing along this vision. My goal is to keep MDB as a permanent part of my life and to lose 32 more pounds. I was lifting a 40 pound tub of cat litter from my car the other day and it hit me that I'm carrying around this much dead weight everywhere I go. Amazing! When I shed these pounds I will truly be a new man. My transformation so far has been motivated by Shaun T. What fun, even for this 68 year young guy. I love it! I'm now doing HHA Dance Party and being challenged. Shaun, you are a natural motivator and an amazingly welcoming person. I feel right at home there with you and your crew. I have to tell you that I have taken the "Get Busy" to church with me. On a recent Sunday morning, I was making a plea for more folks to join support groups. The idea hit me to illustrate how much fun a group could be. I recruited several teens who were sitting on the front row to come up and show what an exercise group might look like. I told them we were going to learn the "Get Busy." Well, the drummer struck up a hip hop beat and these eager teens took to it right away. The congregation loved it. Who would have thought, the "Get Busy" in church. WOW! Imagine, 68 years young and motivating these teenagers. But that's not all, Shaun. A week later in my WeightWatchers meeting I got to celebrate my 20 pound weight loss in that program. When the leader asked me what was different now than 20 pounds ago I simply said, "Can I take over your meeting for just a minute?" I went up front and asked all 30 of the folks present to stand up and learn the "Get Busy." They absolutely loved it. Such energy and smiles. Later, the leader told me that she had never seen such participation and honest enjoyment in a WW meeting. WOW again! I'm now doing Slim in 6 along with HHA. It is giving my muscles a great workout which I need. My doc prescribes one hour of cardio six days a week and slow resistence work three days a week to counteract the loss of testosterone that many of us men have as we mature. In my case it's even more important because of my radical surgery for prostate cancer which was absolutely successful but eliminated my testosterone. I think that's when I began to pack on the pounds. My doc warned me that weight gain could be a side effect and that losing that weight would be a difficult challenge. After a heart attack and successful angioplasty 10 years ago I went through a 3-month rehab program, with monitored exercise and diet coaching. But then, left to my own motivation, I struggled to keep up the exercise. Now I can simply press play and enter a supportive virtual gym. It really works for me! I'm grateful that my doc has given me a clean bill of health and encourages me to regularly get cardio up to 80% of my maximum heart rate which I monitor with a HRM. I WOWY six days a week, getting up at 5:30 a.m. on the two days a week I work. Ask my very supportive wife, this is just not the old Gordon. But the best surprise I've found in MDB I save for last. It's the amazing community of other folks who are seriously pursuing their personal fitness goals. I was fortunate to find a forum that gladly welcomes this mature guy into their supportive circle. Working with Jodi Ziesmer, my fantastic coach, a $1,000 winner in July, I have begun eating more protein and calories which has fired up my weight loss, started using the right MDB supplements and received personal support and motivation. She and our great crew of Siblings in Sweat help me believe in myself and keep me pressing play six days a week. One more thing. At my WeightWatchers weigh-in a few weeks ago, the pounds I have given up since starting MDB put me over my 10% weight loss goal. I got a key ring to commemorate it and was asked to tell about how I had been able to accomplish my 26 pound loss. I showed everyone a little hand drawn graph of my weight since the beginning of this year. I had basically hit a big flat plateau. But when I began doing HHA 6 days a week, eating more to support my fat burning and added in SI6, my weight took a dramatic downturn. It was obvious from looking at that graph that a major change was going on, giving me a healthy, consistent loss of one pound per week. When I told them is was because of MDB and HHA, they cheered, remembering my demonstration of the “Get Busy.” I gave MDB credit for helping me really get serious about doing a significant and effective amount of exercise. It has made all the difference for me. I'm so grateful to MDB for how far I've already progressed. Just you wait. There’s more to come. Join me. You can do it to! Last month I learned that I had been chosen as the December winner for men over 50 in the Million Dollar Body Contest. What a fantastic boost to my motivation. I've moved on to Power 90 and Tony is kicking my butt. After only three weeks I can see another transformation starting. Thanks to all my Siblings in Sweat for keeping me motivated and in the game. | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
