I am almost 50, the wife of a amazing man and mother of 3 great guys.
Before my eyes they have grown into amazing men. One 25, an Army Sergeant in his last year of college after his tour in Kuwait/Iraq, another is 17 an Eagle Scout, white water kayaker that craves the rivers when not on highschool football or swim team, and the youngest is almost 16 and a competitive gymnast traveling all over

Before my eyes they have grown into amazing men. One 25, an Army Sergeant in his last year of college after his tour in Kuwait/Iraq, another is 17 an Eagle Scout, white water kayaker that craves the rivers when not on highschool football or swim team, and the youngest is almost 16 and a competitive gymnast traveling all over for Regional and Jr. Olympic National Championships. This year, 2009, my husband (who also kayaked with our son and climbed mountains and set up high adventure trips as a Scout Leader) had a Brain Tumor and surgery, then Cyberknife Radiation. We realized, or I should say I realized, that if I didn't stop just watching my guys grow and do stuff, I might be too old and out of shape to ever enjoy doing things with them again. Some of you may understand, I was active, physical fit and into sports as a young adult- after kids I was in and out of shape as is evident in the family photos. I always thought I'd be able to do All things with my kids but this year has been a eye opener to what little time we all really have to enjoy each other and life. I "watched" my kids do their activities and time just slipped away.
My husband and I decided we were going to get into shape after seeing a commercial for P90X.
It was good timing for us. We planned our family vacation to Maui, Hawaii for this Christmas. Our oldest returned home from his tour and all the boys hadn't seen him in almost 2 years. This would be the last year all my boys would have "Christmas Break" off together and Dave and I wanted this vacation to be one they will all remember. So when the commercial came on we were like "hey- we have like a little more than 90 days till we leave for Hawaii, maybe we should do this!!" We have begun our journey to fitness. I have started each day by pushing play, Dave and I together. I used to think I needed to work out alone...but I am now in week 9 the third phase and I love having someone to help push me to get going in the mornings. We are both seeing a very positive difference in our body shapes, muscle development and we have both gone down a pant size so far. I am hooked!! BRING IT ON!
