Beaumont, TX I'm a happily married mom of four great kids - three girls and a baby boy! I am a children's clothing designer and am really into fashion and that world. My weight story is probably pretty common. Most of my young life, I was very thin. If anything, I would have been underweight. I'm tall, so "lanky" was a word that was used to describe me quite a bit. THEN I got married and had a I'm a happily married mom of four great kids - three girls and a baby boy! I am a children's clothing designer and am really into fashion and that world. My weight story is probably pretty common. Most of my young life, I was very thin. If anything, I would have been underweight. I'm tall, so "lanky" was a word that was used to describe me quite a bit. THEN I got married and had a miscarriage followed by my first daughter and THAT is when it all started for me. My metabolism just went from a sprint to a slow crawl and, well, that was all she wrote! I feel like I have kept my weight generally "in control" - I have fluctuated very little since I put my weight on. I've never really been "fat". But my doctors put me in the "obese" catagory, so obviously there's a problem. Now, I doubt that most people would look at me and say, "oh, she is obese." I don't think of myself that way. However, in clinical terms, I am just that - thirty pounds or more over my ideal weight. My height is the optical illusion - I have a lot of area to spread out those 30+ pounds, so it doesn't look like it would on a girl who is 5'3". But its there all the same! And in 2003, I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. I changed a lot of things when I got that diagnosis. I haven't touched a sugared soda since that day! I have studied diet and nutrition and have a pretty clean diet and I'm proud to say that I am completely diet-controled at this point - NO meds needed, thank you! :) BUT I know that I am REALLY out of shape and I would love to have a really healthy, lean body and a lot more energy. That would be ideal. SO! Those are my goals - I'd like to see what my body's potential could be if I actually tried. I never have really been consistent with any program before and this is my time - I'm done having babies and I have the time and the drive right now to do something for myself, so ... well, let the journey begin! :) (BTW, I have a gym membership and have been really consistent for about six weeks with going at least four days per week - with the exception of a few days out for a sinus infection - so, I am making some progress).
