But even though I wasn't really overweight, I was out of shape, and my husband and I decided we needed to do something about our physiques. We started doing Power 90 and I ended up losing 20 pounds of flab and gaining a killer set of abs!
A lot of my husband's coworkers were doing P90X, and we felt ready to try it after Power 90. We've now done P90X twice - the Lean version the first time and the Classic version after that - and we're currently working out to the Power 90 Master Series.
Getting into a fitness routine has improved my mental health right along with my physical health. I work at a desk as a newspaper editor by day and I compose music at a keyboard and computer the rest of the time, so "sedentary" is an apt description of most of my life. I can totally tell the difference in my day if I skipped my morning workout.
What else to tell? ... I'm 41 and I live in Astoria, Oregon with my kids, James (18) and Julia (12), and my husband, Tom, who's a paramedic (married 21 years this May), and there's the cat, Gizmo, and the black pug, Bugsy. I play piano, flute and alto sax, I like watching sci-fi and I speak Swedish. I'm also an alumnus of the University of Oregon (GO DUCKS!) I knew I'd put on probably 15 extra pounds over the past few years, but when it came time to take our measurements for starting Power 90, I was shocked to find that I weighed 25 pounds over my goal! Once we changed our eating habits and started the daily workouts, the flab really went away quickly. I lost 20 pounds doing Power 90, and have remained right at that weight throughout two rounds of P90X because of all the muscle I've built up. I'd still like to trim those last 5 to 7 pounds.
