Hi, welcome to my Team Beachbody page.

My name is James, I'm 42, and I've been using Beachbody exercise programs and nutritional supplements since 2007 to improve my health and fitness.

I never really played sports growing up and didn't exercise. I rode a bike daily, so that was my exercise. But that changed when I got to college. The bike was replaced by a car, and exercising

Five years ago (2005), I wouldn't have given't a second thought if someone had asked me to workout. I would have said, "no thanks, maybe next time" and I would look at my stomach and be like "one day..." At the time, I was taking ballroom dancing lessons and went dancing every weekend. In a short time, I went from 170 to 153pounds. I felt great! But then I stopped dancing in late 2006. I returned to my old heating habits, and the weight came back. When I gained the weight back, I also raised my cholesterol and blood pressure. I didn't know where to begin. I had a gym membership, but I needed something DIFFERENT.

2007 I went on a date with someone who had a collection of Beachbody videos. I borrowed Hip Hop Abs on our first date. But it sat at home for 3months before I used it. I read everything about it and was like "wow!" Then one day I said, "gotta do it".

July 1, 2007 - I took my day one photos and measurements and began Hip Hop Abs - and I've been going since. It wasn't the amount of sweat from the workouts that kept me going, it was knowing that I had accomplished something. I didn't stop with Hip Hip Abs. I went from Hip Hop Abs to Ultimate Results to Power 90. As I did P90, I mixed in some workouts from other programs like Slim In 6 and Power Half Hour or Ho Ala' Ke Kino. When I began the Power 90 Master Series, I took it more seriously. I felt better, my health results improved, and I just kept going.

2008 I became a Team Beachbody coach, BNN interviewed me in a story called "Staying Fit In The Face of Epilepsy", and I began P90X. THAT was a challenge! I modified everything for my first 2 rounds.

When I visited my doctor in 2009 my thyroid was normal and my total cholesterol was 184.

In 2009, I changed my ID to "irefuse2quit" - and I've never given up since. I continued doing P90X, and also attended Tony Horton's fitness camp.

Mid-2010, I lost my motivation. I needed a change. So I focused more on the nutrition than exercising. I did some exercising here and there, but it wasn't consistent (yoga, walking, stretching).

2011, I wasn't exercising. I experienced too many changes. Family business was closing, I lost my motivation to exercise. Everything changed in June 2011 in a car accident suffering internal bruising to the chest and a foot contusion. Now I COULDN'T exercise. So I focused on my nutrition by eating healthy and drinking Shakeology. In September, I visited my doctor who said the injuries healed and I could start exercising again.

As a sidenote - my thyroid is normal, my blood pressure is normal, and my total cholesterol is 171. My goal is to KEEP it low. :)

Now my goal is to get fit. I started with Slim In 6 and Slim Series. This is just the beginning....
