I was completely frustrated with myself. I was 35 and had always been athletic, active, but got stuck in some bad habits of not exercising or eating properly. What the heck happened? I used reasons More ...
I was completely frustrated with myself. I was 35 and had always been athletic, active, but got stuck in some bad habits of not exercising or eating properly. What the heck happened? I used reasons like; busy with work and starting up a new business; family that included four kids under the age of 11; no time to get to the gym; no time to go on a run or walk, blah, blah, blah. All excuses NOT to work out!

I’m flipping through the channels late one night and come across the P90X infomercial, these guys and gals are doing stuff I use to be able to do, pull ups, pushups plus a whole lot more, they’re working out hard and not using some crazy gadget designed to only lighten your wallet. “I can do that!” The next day, I to the website, did a little research and DECIDED that I was going to get absolutely RIPPED in 90 days!
Once started I was 100% committed, no nutritional cheating, no missing workouts, and it paid off in more ways than I ever imagined. I went from 188 lbs, 20.8% body fat to 172 lbs,10.5% body fat in 90 DAYS. I have continued with the program and been able add more lean muscle mass to my current weight of 186 lbs. This has been a lifestyle change for us; it wasn’t a short term weight loss program, its part of who we are and how we live our lives.
I had a few minor issues with bad knees but my goal was getting RIPPED, and thanks to my very supportive wife. I also relied on the Beachbody Message Boards for plenty of support and answers to countless questions. Because if that I had no issues with achieving success. It’s Simple, Just Not Easy! I had the typical challenges of managing proper nutrition and fitting the workouts into a busy schedule that included family vacations away from my home gym but that’s all part of the healthy lifestyle journey I had committed to. I’m just your normal dude who decided not to be a typical 35 year old average guy, and instead I’m now the atypical 35 year old RIPPED guy!
Some of my friends have asked me why? Why did I go to this extreme, I wasn’t “fat”, I was just stopping the direction I was headed. I didn’t want to be overweight and be told by my doctor that I had to lose weight because of health issues. I also needed to set an example for my kids that health and fitness is important, how do you teach that if you’re overweight and out of shape? It’s a sad state of our society that it’s “normal” to be 20-30 lbs overweight, sorry but that’s not NORMAL!

I started with P90X and One on One with Tony Horton. My goal is to keep going with the different exercises that Beachbody provides because they are making a difference in the world. My fitness level has gone to a level I haven’t seen since I was in my teens and I ran track and play football. I wish I could say I’m able to leap tall buildings with a single bound but what I’ve gained most from my fitness is that I’ve got lots of energy all through the day, if you’ve got young children you know how important it is to have lots of energy to stay ahead of them!
