For the past few years I have been focused on building my business in real estate investing, online marketing and stock market investing. My life was way out of balance and I made very little time for exercise or proper eating. When I did exercise I followed the typical gym routines that I had used for years, and they gave me some strength and size, but never helped me to get really lean. After seeing one of the P90X infomercials with Tony Horton, what I really wanted was a Beachbody, with killer abs and ripped muscles like Tony...hey if an old guy (kidding Tony) could do it why the heck couldn't I? I've always had trouble eating properly, even when I was working out consistently I could never get lean. I read all the books and knew that I needed smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, and that diet was the key to being reunited with my abs. Once I discovered TeamBeachBody.com and the meal plans there, including the grocery shopping lists, I was in heaven - this was exactly what I needed! So I ordered up the P90X program and all the basic equipment and supplements and started my BeachBody journey in May 2009... I hated the first week of the P90X program. Simply put, it kicked my ass! I almost puked on plyometrics day and every inch of my body was sore. Ab Ripper X was brutal and I had to take frequent breaks, my hip flexors were shot and Tony's sly grin during the "extra reps" was ticking me off. Now that I'm near the end of my first 90 days I have signed up as a BeachBody coach. I "Bring It" every workout, and I love the results I am seeing and feeling. I can do the complete Ab Ripper X (and all other P90X workouts); my energy levels are high, and my confidence is through the roof! I have new and better relationships too - all areas of my life have been affected. I know that I can pass on my knowledge and support to others who are thinking about starting a BeachBody program to alter their lives. Oh and those abs...see the pictures for yourself...I love 'em, and I know my girlfriend does too ;) What a change from just 90 days ago! If you are new to Beachbody and want to seriously alter your life, beginning with your fitness - stop thinking about it and do it. It will be hard, but you will see and feel progress every day. As your coach I will be there for you. Take the first step, and then "keep pushing play" - you won't regret it! May 1, 2009 I can honestly say I've never been in worse physical condition in my life, or had lower confidence levels. For the past few years I have been building my own business, real estate investing, online marketing and stock market investing. The long hours have really taken a toll on my body and my relationships. I need to get my focus back on my health & fitness and whip my body into shape! I have worked out on & off since I was 13 years old; I've always been able to bulk up easily, but I've never been really lean. So my focus is to get my confidence back by proving that I can be lean and strong. I play ice hockey twice a week all year around, which is great for cardio, but doesn't seem to be helping me get lean. Diet has always been a weak link for me too, I work 10 hour days including my commute to and from work, so it's a challenge to eat the proper foods and be consistent with my workouts, and to also make tasty dinners for the kids when they are at my house. That is why I'm here. I have just started the program and I'm beginning to feel some changes and a bit of tightening up, so I'm very excited. My first goal is to complete 90 days of the program, and then treat myself to a vacation somewhere warm and scenic to tan up and refresh my body and soul, then to get started as a Beachbody coach and help others to reach their goals! June 14, 2009 I am 2 weeks into the program and beginning to feel some changes and increased confidence. My biggest struggle is getting my workouts done around my 10 hour work day with commute, and eating properly to drop some pounds! July 1, 2009 Just finished week 3, phase 1 and besides losing nearly 20 pounds and dropping down to 181 pounds I've also begun to get some serious muscle definition and I can see my abs! The confidence levels are really beginning to rise and I'm looking forward to phase 2. My results so far are fantastic and I just signed up to be a coach. After 90 days I have no doubt that I will be able to help others achieve similar results! July 29, 2009 I just finished my first phase 2 workout, one-handed pushups - who knew! My weight is down to 178 pounds now, just 3 pounds from my original goal and I have 60 days to go. I used my new Powerstands for the pushups in my chest workout, what a difference, I love em! I didn't have bodyfat calipers before I started, but I just measured and I am at 18%; I want to get lean so I've set the goal of 8% bodyfat. I'm replacing one meal a day with shakeology, and with the progress I've already made I have no doubt I will blow away my goals! August 3, 2009 I've nearly completed my first week of phase 2, and I'm on day 2 using the 2-Day Fast Formula. My energy feels quite bit low so I've been adding a banana to one shake per day and an extra half scoop of whey protein. Last night I couldn't sleep and it finally got to me, I had to have a wasa cracker with some peanut butter. My activity level has been high during the fast, and I've had to dig deep into my energy reserves. Yesterday I did Yoga-X, and today is Legs, Back, Abs. I also managed to play hockey last night and perform pretty well - I definitely felt the energy fading by the end of the game, but my cardio conditioning helped me finish strong. So far I've dropped 4% bodyfat since July 29th when I started phase 2! I am now 1 pound away from my original weight goal of 175 pounds, and 6% away from my bodyfat goal of 8%. WOW, I'm totally stoked and I know I'll reach those goals this phase! August 14, 2009 I dropped another 2% body fat, so I'm down to about 12% now. I am feeling really lean, and I'm eating well according to the basic diet guide. I've reduced carbs and I focus on lean meats and vegetables, as well as using Shakeology with extra protein powder, berries and banana once per day as a meal replacement. Sometimes at breakfast and other times for dinner. When I do eat breads I make sure it's whole wheat or multigrain, and chicken wings, pizza and dough of any kind are no longer on the menu..period. Now for the best part, in the past 2 weeks of doing the phase 2 workouts I've noticed a big gain in strength and size. This explains why my weight is still holding at 176 while my body fat continues to decrease as my muscle mass increases. I love the weight workouts in this phase because there is very little repeated..it keeps the workout moving along and before you know it you've done more pushups and pullups and bicep curls than ever before and you are super pumped! I can also nearly do the complete ab ripper X workout; my breaks are short, usually for 3 or 4 reps, and then I jump back in and finish. Most of the moves I can complete all the reps, including the leg climbers - they burn like crazy but I'm already starting to use leg position to make them harder. Who knew! Oh and my cardio conditioning is crazy good. I have to work extra hard to keep my heartrate in the zone during Kenpo (still not a problem for Plyos though). When I play hockey I recover very quickly on the bench now, and often after a hard shift I barely need any time to recover at all...my teammates call me "hockey school". Amazing. Keep bringing it! August 15, 2009 I am halfway through phase 2 and I've already reached my original weight goal of 175 pounds (174.8 on the scale today)! My bodyfat has dropped to 10% as well. Amazing results, and my conditioning continues to improve almost daily. BRING IT!!! August 20, 2009 Just finished today's workout: Legs & Back and AbRipper-X. I didn't really feel like working out but once you put on your workout gear and hit play there is no turning back. Once the blood gets flowing you get into it. AbRipper-X was awesome today - I did all reps minus about 4 or 5 of the hip rock 'n raise and pulse ups. I still need a short break to get through each of those. But I was able to get arms in the air on in & outs, and make adjustments on some of the last exercises to make them a bit harder. My abs are feeling awesome...lean and strong! My waist is also down about 6 inches since I started, I am now at 32 inches, which is the trimmest I have been in about 15 years! And by the way, the friggin recovery drink is absolutely awesome...it's not just hype! It has creatine, glutamine, some protein and some other important stuff for recovery that I don't understand. Anyway, I really look forward to this after every workout and I can tell it's really speeding my recovery. August 26, 2009 Just finished Back, Biceps and AbRipper-X (phase 2 week 3). This was the first time I completed the entire AbRipper-X workout plus increased the difficulty of a few of the exercises. What a great feeling! Since hitting my target weight of 175 I've decided since I still have 10% body fat I'm going to set my new target to 170 pounds. I am beginning to pack on muscle mass so I know my weight will level out as I continue to get leaner, but I still feel like my lower body could shed a few more pounds. BRING IT! September 3, 2009 Just about finished week 3 phase 2. I took a week off (not really on purpose); normally I'd be feeling stressed about this but I know that P90X and my eating habits are here to stay as part of my healthy lifestyle, so I'm back and putting in a strong finish to phase 2! September 5, 2009 My bodyweight has dropped down to 172 pounds today, and I've reached my new bodyfat goal of 8% !! My weight goal is still 170 and I've set a new bodyfat goal of 6%. I know it will get more difficult now, but my eating habits and workout habits are consistent so I'm confident I can reach these goals. I can feel a difference in my remaining layer of stomach fat; after every 2 or 3 workouts I feel it thinning out...very cool! On top of that I feel stronger than ever. I've set my heartrate monitor for a 24-year old and I can barely top 140 bpm during Kenpo-X, and that's with running with high knees and doing the jumping jacks during all the breaks, and doubling the tempo during most of the punching and blocking sequences. January 22, 2011 Well I'm back...I've taked a bit of a hiatus from Team Beachbody due to many challenges in my professional and personal life. Things are finally back on track in both regards, but unfortunately my fitness has suffered; I'm here to get my ass back into my best shape and keep it there. One quick note regarding fitness levels, I took a long time off of working out but the conditioning I reached stuck with me for about a year! So here I go...Phase 1 Workout 1 is tomorrow! | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
