I am 53 years old, married to the same wonderful woman for nearly 30 of those years. We have two children in college, our eldest was in the Marines for 4 years. My wife and I enjoy working with College and High School age young adults. Currently, we have ministry called "cookin with the wilsons" (on facebook) where we have 2-4 young adults over and we teach them how to cook something

I am 50 (now 51) years old and thought I was in OK shape, but over time I found I was getting pretty flabby even though I was working out 5 days a week...I thought if I could lose about 3-5 pounds More ...
I am 50 (now 51) years old and thought I was in OK shape, but over time I found I was getting pretty flabby even though I was working out 5 days a week...I thought if I could lose about 3-5 pounds doing P90X I would call it a success. Having not ever seen a promo for it or know anyone who was doing it - I really had ZERO idea what was ahead. For the first week or two I felt like the walking wounded... but I kept at it, during the third week I started focusing on the diet, thanks to my Coach Wronafit. The final 10 weeks I lost almost 20 #, Cholesterol dropped 35 points, body fat went from the mid twenties down to 12.5%, and I stopped snoring (the sound you here is my wife cheering) Now about 12 people are doing P90X because of what the changes they SEE in me. I think that's kind of cool. My wife says I have more energy too!

I approach it as a lifestyle change not a bootcamp or a 90 day event. So once in a while if I want a small dessert - I have it. If I want a glass of wine at dinner - I have one and enjoy it. These minor compromises help me to make this an doable and enjoyable journey. It certainly makes it easier for me not give up on the changes I have made since I never feel deprived.

Anyway, starting round 2 and want to tone up a bit and add a pound or two of muscle and continue to work on increasing my strength. If you want to join along, my thread is "Even a 50 year old can do it" in the P90X section of the photo gallery.
