Castaic, CA In 1998, I began focusing especially hard on health issues. It started on a day that I found it almost too painful to get up out of my desk chair. I was much too young to feel like that but spending years behind a desk, getting no exercise, and gaining 50 pounds had taken its toll. The price was three knee surgeries and high cholesterol.

I was much too young to feel like that but spending years behind a desk, getting no exercise, and gaining 50 pounds had taken its toll. The price was three knee surgeries and high cholesterol.
I had known for many years that I had scoliosis, there was arthritis on my mother's side and circulatory problems on my father's side (he had a tumor removed from his neck, two bypass surgeries to his legs and died from several small strokes that went undetected). So, I had many reasons to take a close look at my health.
Since that day in 1998, I have accumulated a tremendous amount of knowledge on diet, nutrition and exercise. I’ve lost the 50 pounds I had gained and my cholesterol is at optimally beneficial levels. I feel younger than I did twenty years ago but I won’t stop now. I believe that, treated correctly, the body can give us twice the number of healthy years we currently experience. So, I continue my journey down the road of health and happiness and invite you to join me.
Please, really look into all that Beachbody has to offer. It’s sort of like Facebook for those that want to get healthier. The basic site is free. The programs and products work and I’m here if you need any help. Just contact me.

I began testing Shakeology on 7/20/09 and so far so good. The “Before” picture was taken 7/17/09 and the current "After" picture should really be called a "During" picture. It was taken on 6/27/10. Photographically, I look about the same as I did after 90 days on Shakeology but, in reality, my body continues to improve month after month.
Two days after beginning Shakeology, I lost two pounds. Considering my diet is extremely healthy and I had been at my existing weight for years, I was shocked to see that immediate weight loss. Because I had not begun the workout program yet, I know it wasn’t water loss. My guess is that my body began flushing toxins almost immediately. So, the shake works. I realize that I am eating one less meal per day but I’m actually only saving about 200 calories, which wouldn’t account for that quick loss either.
After 30 days, I'd reached most of my fitness test goals (for some reason, the graph on curls is incorrect but I reached that goal as well). It's too bad the graph doesn’t show results above 100%. I also reached most of my measurement goals.
After 66 days on the workout program, I'd even lost fat on my arms. I expected that I would be gaining a little weight - trading fat for muscle - but it appears I had more fat to lose than I thought. At this point, I’d dropped ten pounds and was back to what I weighed in high school. I was at 18.5% body fat when I began Shakeology, at 13% body fat by this point and I’d lost two inches from my waist.
After 90 days on the program, I’d lost 15 pounds. Wow! I thought I was in pretty good shape when I started. I had no idea I had that much fat to lose and I’m not done. Losing 5 pounds per month, thus far, is a good rate to lose fat but, even at that, my skin still has a little catching up to do before I see real definition in my stomach. I am now at about 10% body fat.
After 129 days, I continue to lose fat but not weight. As you can see from the before and after photos, the sun has changed position in the sky. I apologize for not being able to get the exact same point of view but you can clearly see the difference. Pants that still fit me last month are now falling off. I still don’t have the ab definition that I want but I know it won’t be much longer now.
After 280 days, including the holiday season, I continue to lose fat and inches. I have gained back two pounds in total but the differences are not noticeable in photographs. I will update my photo as soon as there are changes that can be seen. I am, however, now ½” smaller than my original goal for my waist. Interestingly, I figure I have another inch to lose, at least. I haven’t worn a size 29” waist jeans since Jr. High but I’m sure that will be the next pair I buy.
After 342 days, I am up to about 7 workouts per week with two days off and two days with two workouts each. My ventilatory threshold (the point which a body uses more oxygen than it can take in and lactic acid begins to build up in muscles) has greatly improved. My weight remains the same but I continue to lose the remaining belly fat and my blood pressure is better than ever at 120/78.
