Mableton, GA I am proud to say I am a 31 year old thyroid and 2 time breast cancer survivor! My husband is a testicular cancer survivor and our story is quite amazing. Complete with our 3 furkids, Liberty, Bleau, and Mazzy, we are one little happy family.
I met my husband, Rhett, in 2005. Only 6 short months after being together he popped the question and we were planning to be married exactly 1 year from I am proud to say I am a 31 year old thyroid and 2 time breast cancer survivor! My husband is a testicular cancer survivor and our story is quite amazing. Complete with our 3 furkids, Liberty, Bleau, and Mazzy, we are one little happy family.
I met my husband, Rhett, in 2005. Only 6 short months after being together he popped the question and we were planning to be married exactly 1 year from date we met. A few months later we got the tragic news that he had testicular cancer. We immediately got married. After surgery and chemo, he got a clean bill of health and I was then diagnosed with breast cancer -- Can we say soul mates? In 3 years, I had been through 8 surgeries, 6 months of chemo, a local recurrence, radiation, and let's not forget one of the most challenging parts - permanent menopause after my ovaries were removed.
As one can imagine, my fitness level was very up and down during my journey. I was introduced to Beachbody by Katy, my colleague and very good friend, while going through treatments. Prior to my diagnosis I was the typical gym junkie, and runner. My spare time was spent educating myself in fitness and nutrition. I found it exhilarating to share my knowledge with my co-workers, friends, and family. With the onset of my treatments, I was forced to kiss my gym membership good-bye (doctor's orders -- no gym machine germs for me!). I also soon realized I would be hanging up my running shoes for awhile. Because Katy shared the same interests with me, she knew of my fitness troubles and suggested I try out an in home fitness program like Turbo Jam. Turbo Jam was exactly what I needed in my attempt to try and stay motivated and connected with a fitness routine. After 3 years I am still loving it! Whether I have been weak and only able to do learn and burn, or strong and healthy doing the more advanced workout, it has allowed me to have fun and be challenged no matter what my level of fitness is. Yoga has also played a dynamic role in my life. It has helped me through my pain and tears and my body and soul have truly grown.
Shakeology was my turning point through the menopause weight I gained. I had 30 lbs to loose and this was my secret weapon.
I am proud to be a Team Beachbody Coach and share in my success. My goal is to empower cancer patients and survivors through fitness. Only 10 minutes yoga can relieve so much pain. I am here to guide and mentor. Allow me to use my experiences to inspire you. There was a time that I never thought I could even think of taking on P90X, but it's right around the corner! Here is to your best body!
