Roseville, CA I am a wife and mother of four children, currently ages 9 1/2-15. The past few years I have seen metabolism slow and weight creep on to the point that I have to do something because I am not happy with how I feel and look. I have the proverbial "clothes I am going to get back into - someday" in my closet, and don't like looking at full length photos of myself.

The past few years I have seen metabolism slow and weight creep on to the point that I have to do something because I am not happy with how I feel and look. I have the proverbial "clothes I am going to get back into - someday" in my closet, and don't like looking at full length photos of myself.
In my life, I was always very athletic - could play any sport, and started dancing on competitive teams when I was 11 years old. I traveled to places around the world with teams, danced in the 1984 Olympics, and continued to dance even when I graduated from high school and went to college. I went to the gym and worked out daily and had fitness and being in shape as part of my normal routine.
Then things changed. My husband and I decided to start a family. I had eight pregnancies in about 7 years - successfully carrying 4 of those babies to full term. When I was pregnant for the 4th time (after losing 3 in a row), I was told by my doctors to "not do anything" - not lift a box, not even vaccuum my house. I was a "high risk" pregnancy, so I reluctantly cut out my dancing and activities so that I could keep my baby. My hormones were all over the place from repeated pregnancies.
This was a big shift for me as someone who had always been active and healthy. I did manage to easily lose the weight from my first pregnancy, but the next 3 babies were another story. With each one, I added 10-15 pounds that I did not lose before getting pregnant again. When I nursed, the pounds did NOT melt off - it was like every fat cell was staying on me to help produce milk. I have tried diet pills, diet shakes, not eating, carb free diets, cleanses, etc. And the truth is nothing is going to work unless exercise is included.
After constantly being pregnant and then nursing babies, and then getting pregnant again, my body has never recovered to the point where I would be happy. Not being fit has negatively impacted my health and my marriage, and also I don't feel that I am as good of a role model to my 4 children as I could be. I still love doing activities - just biked 14 miles, did a 16 miles river raft trip, and hiked in the Colorado mountains. That part of me that likes physical activities never left - but I have let other things take priority. I own a business, and work as a traveling corporate trainer. The traveling lifestyle is not very conducive to a regular workout routine. I am excited about using the DVD program through BeachBody to be able to fit fitness back into my life and put it as a priority.
So I had to find something I could do and fit in to my life schedule. Going to the gym is not something I enjoy doing anymore - it takes too long - and costs too much. Being able to do an at-home or on-the-road program is much better. Plus we will be able to involve our children in these workout DVDs which will help reinforce fitness for them. This will save us a LOT of money in not having to join a gym as a family and we can do these workouts anywhere.
We watched the infomercial on TV at the suggestion of a friend who has been doing the program for the past few months and seen good results. We like the idea of a mix-up workout that won't let us get bored, and has something for every member of our family.
I am looking forward to setting goals and seeing my body get back into the shape and level of health that I want. My husband and I are doing this together and we are excited about involving our children, and helping others achieve their goals of being fit and healthy in life.
