My name is Jennifer or Bootsy, if you like nicknames. I am from San Francisco, CA. I was fortunate to be raised by athletic and active parents, which was an oddity in the 70's. But thanks to them, I acquired the habit of fitness and health through sports and even sometimes punishment. Instead of the usual grounding or TV bans, we did push-ups to redeem ourselves. But thanks to them, I acquired the habit of fitness and health through sports and even sometimes punishment. Instead of the usual grounding or TV bans, we did push-ups to redeem ourselves. To this day, I have a love-hate relationship to push-ups.
I grew up a gymnast, until height and an injury took me out of the sport for good. As a family, we belonged to a long distance running club, my mom ran marathons, and dad was into martial arts and bodybuilding. So you see the foundation was there for me to lead a healthy life. I taught aerobics (it was the 80's!), studied Muay Thai kickboxing, taught many classes, personal training, and I fell in love with weight training along the journey.
It sounds perfect and ideal, doesn't it? Unfortunately nothing is perfect and even with all the tools in place, I still faced challenges, injuries, periods of no motivation, kids, family, no time and the curve balls that life will throw your way.
But fitness has been a constant and a lifestyle. It evolves, I have to nurture it and it rewards me. I am not in it for the "after" picture, because there is no after, only during.
I love to help people find that strength and confidence through training and fitness. I believe that through controlling our bodies we gain control of our minds and spirit too. Ultimately through this balance we can be happy and fulfilled in our lives. Hey, I did say I was from California.

I would love to say that I transformed myself in x amount of weeks and now look at me. But the truth is that I am a work in progress and sometimes I am super-fit, pretty fit, so-so, and occasionally seriously NOT happy with myself.
But I have used programs, including the Beachbody series to get myself back into the super-fit zone.
The first time was after the birth of my 1st child 8 years ago. I just didn't have the time I once had to dedicate to myself. So I had to get creative AND lose a good 25lbs. Enter, Thin Thighs Guaranteed, Great Abs, Great Buns, Great Stretch. Now there is a blast from the past. I don't know if Beachbody even still makes those, but they saved me. I lost the weight and could work out in my living room. I still stand by Thin Thighs as a challenging workout.
Time went by and another pregnancy, another 25lbs and this time it was Slim in 6. I would have loved to go to the gym, but now I had 2 little ones and Slim in 6 was right there to do in my home.
Fast forward to today. I just started the P90X program and Oh My, I thought I was in shape. This program is VERY challenging and I know I will get great results. I am so sore and loving it.
Keep ya posted.
