A couple of years ago I just about had it with the way I felt and the condition my body was in. I fell into the common rut most people fall into with a busy career and family life. The decision was made to make a change and put aside a small amount of time each day to exercise. During my years in college I was in pretty decent shape, unfortunately that required me to spend a few hours a day in the gym which I no longer had the luxury of doing. I was looking for a program that I could do from home and give me the results I wanted. I have tried pretty much all of the next best things in fitness, you know all the gadgets and gizmos out there and all were unsuccessful for me. They all lost their luster rather quickly. I needed something that remained fresh and kept me motivated. I had my eye on the P90X program for a little over a year just debating with myself whether or not I should do this program. As I said before all previous methods did not work for me. I finally came to my senses and got the program and committed to it 100% from day 1. This was one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. Not only would this decision have a positive impact on me, but would also have a positive impact on my family as well. I can now say I am a healthier father and husband.
I “brought it” for 90 days and am extremely satisfied with my results. I did not think I could achieve the results I achieved. I knew if I stuck with it, that my body would have no choice but to change, but never did I think the results would be so drastic. I can honestly say I am in the best shape of my life at the age of 31. When I say in shape I mean complete shape. I struggled to do a couple pull ups at the beginning of this program. I can now do over 100 pull-ups in a single workout! Never thought that was even possible, but that is what this program can do for you. I often think about the very first workout and recall how I struggled through the warm up, wondering what I had gotten myself into. I kept going until I finished the first disc. I thought to myself what a workout. I had never worked out and sweat like that before! Must not have been working out hard enough prior to P90X…Even though I was by myself working out in my basement I felt as though the 4 people on the DVD were there with me pushing me to my limits. I wanted to keep up with them! Wasn't happening! This was something I did not get just throwing weight around in my basement before. Within a few weeks I had made great strides and started to keep up.
To make a long story short the first couple of weeks were a challenge to say the least. I think for more than one reason. Obviously the workouts were difficult, but at the same time I was committing myself to make a lot of changes in my life all at once. I was now working out for at least an hour a day and changing when and how I ate. I quickly realized how important it was to change my eating habits. I would have never achieved the results I was able to achieve without eating and supplementing properly throughout this program. It goes hand and hand. It did not make sense to me to work out so hard and put myself through such intense workouts, only to sacrifice all of that to then eat unhealthy foods. I also cut about 1000 calories per day right from the beginning and would now eat every 2 to 3 hours. This was very difficult at first because I was used to eating large portions of not so great food choices a few times a day. Within a week I started to feel so much more energetic and healthy. As I said before I am still shocked how effective this program is. I only wish I had done it sooner. It just goes to show how you can make such a huge change in a small amount of time once you decide to commit to a goal. All you have to do is "keep pushing play" and the results will follow!
