My transformation really began in 2004 when I took my "before" pictures as I started a program called "Body for Life." I weighed in at 226 and began looking at buying pants with a 40-42 inch waist. I knew that I needed to do something so I picked the best known program to begin.
After a job change and moving away from a gym that had the necessary equipment to keep up with the program, I began to put on the weight again. I regained most of the weight and settled into a more sedentary lifestyle. Then perplexed about my weight again, about 2 years ago I saw an infomercial with Tony Horton and the Power 90 program and thought I would give it a try. I began the program, but had to move again and packed away the DVDs and concentrated on the realities of life. My daughter though saw the potential in the program and even ordered and worked on the P90X program getting ready for her wedding day.
Then last year when I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my 3rd and 4th vertebrae. I experienced numbness in my right hand and fingers and later pain began to shoot up and down my right arm. I could not relieve the pain except with prescription medication.
After an MRI to thoroughly diagnose the problem and over 20 trips to the chiropractor I was informed that surgery may be the next/last resort.
I thought to myself there is no way that I am undergoing surgery on my neck without a physical fight to change my situation. I did some research and began a program of stretching/yoga/palates for 15 - 20 every morning- not remembering that I had Tony Horton's P90 program packed away in a box somewhere.
It took nearly 6 weeks, but the pain subsided and the numbness went away. In addition, I discovered that the exercise/stretching routine (everyday) resolved knee pain and I began to try running again.
I continued the morning routine and combined it with 4 to 5 days of running and watched my weight drop from 225 down to 200 over the next several months. Then, during the course of a move I rediscovered my P90 DVD's and pulled them out and dusted them off and began trying that program again.
For 60 days I worked the workout and ran, but did not change much in my eating program. On January 30th, 2008, my wife and I returned to Cancun for a second time - only this time I was proud to wear a swimsuit and have my shirt off. My wife commented that I looked great and whatever I had been doing lately had made an incredible difference.
Upon returning I have continued the P90 program and ordered the P90X program for my 46th birthday, which is here in a couple of weeks. My goal is to start the P90X program on January 7th while I am still 45 and watch the transformation occur during my 46th year of life.
Now a couple years went by and I regained 20 lbs, let my coaching status fall away and in general settled into a relatively inactive lifestyle - and miserable.
Fast forward - April, 2010 - Unemployed, broke, and miserable. I got out the P90X video's and began my journey all over again. I am not focused on a complete transformation not just settling for "O.K." I am a coach and want to help people overcome what I went through the rest of my life. Come join me!
