Approximately two years ago I started to realize that my weight had crept up and my fitness level had dropped way down. After some rather unflattering comments from a well-meaning clothing store clerk I decided I was now in my 40s and had to do something about it. My weight had hit 211 lbs at it's highest. My eating habits were, well, yikes! Donuts and junk food were the vegetables of my life.
With some family health risks and the never-ending possibility of the return of my childhood asthma it was time to get into shape. It all came down to commitment and determination. As I started to see results, well, it actually became fun!

In late August, about 2 years ago, instead of grabbing a snack, sitting on the coach and watching TV I decided to grab a water bottle, go upstairs to the dusty treadmill and start running. Wow, did that ever hurt. My speed and stamina were not spectacular but I started! My biggest goal at that moment was weight loss. So, day after day, with one break a week, I ran. I also started watching what I was eating. No more crazy junk food snacks. I started watching the calories and actually reading the labels on food items. I wasn't following any specific diet, just watching what I was eating.
Eventually, I started adding other exercises to my routine. Some exercises were things I learned from friends, others were from exercise websites. I purchased a chin-up bar and various weights. I wouldn't say I really knew what I was doing but I was doing it and watched the pounds come off and my fitness level increase. 211 lbs eventually became 165 lbs in about 3 months.
I was watching TV late at night one day and saw this crazy looking "at-home" workout routine. Yep, P90X. I was hooked right away. Next thing I knew I was online and had my copy ordered. I was both a little scared and excited to start. Wow! I loved it!
I've finished a couple rounds of P90X, a round of ChaLEAN Extreme and am also an Insanity grad. Presently, I'm doing another round of ChaLEAN Extreme with a bit of Insanity thrown in. Still lovin' it! Thank you Tony, Chalene, Shaun and Beachbody. I am hooked. Beachbody programs will be a part of my life for some time to come! Come on "aging" I'm ready for ya!
