Monroe, WA I'm a 46 year old dad, with four preteen kids at home. I have a great career which has kept me busy, and a bit out of shape. I enjoy being outdoors, but I find myself behind a desk waaaay too much.

That's where P90X came in. I'm pretty sceptical of anything sold after midnight on the channels between History and HGN, but this one caught my eye. P90X got me from behind my desk, sweating a lot, and was just what I needed. I finished up round one, and started Insanity in April.

December 31, 2009. Pressing Play. Completed every exercise. I used bands because we don't have a pullup bar. A tough workout, but honestly just a bit easier than I thought it'd be. Completed every exercise, but maxed out at about 15-20 pushups and no actual pullups. Did AbripperX, did about 25% of each exercise--TOUGH! Worked out with 10 year old daughter.
January 1, 2010. Plyometrics kicked my ass, but I brought it. Completed every exercise, at about 40%. Heart rate between 145 and 170 (high!). Shoulders and arms sore from yesterday (most of my YMCA exercises with weight machines didn't leave me this sore, so it must be working). Bought a pullup stand, since we have glass above every door near our TV--bands were making me nervous, and I don't know if pullup bar would work without hurting the wood/glass). Worked out with boys (13 and 10). 10 year old was amazing, almost matching the guys on the video.
Day Three: Shoulders and Arms. Easiest (all things are relative) so far. I used bands for the curls and shoulder presses, but looks like it's time to get a set of dumbbells. Worked out with 13 and 10 year old boys, and 10 year old girl. They struggled along with me. Still working on form, figuring out the movements. AbRipper X is on the schedule for later tonight. :(
