Who would have thought that after a lifetime of being the skinny little girl that I would be overweight? I remember my mother saying that if they made double-fat milk, she would have me drink it...that's how skinny I used to be. Well, fast forward about 40 years and two kids later and WOW on a small-framed person like me, an extra 20-25 pounds is HUGE! But this time, I couldn't lose them - as a matter of fact, I just kept gaining. In the period of about 2 months, I gained 20 pounds. My doctor wasn't worried when all my bloodwork came back "normal" so she said not to worry. Well, I told her, I've never had extra weight (except for the tummy roll post-pregnancy) and this was not acceptable to me. So this continued for about a year.
When I had to buy a larger size pant and then top to cover my ever expanding thighs and belly, I knew something had to go--and it was the extra weight.
Since my husband had to lose at least 25 pounds, and he had seen first hand results at work with P90X, we got the program.
We are just starting out, but have stuck with the meal plan fairly closely. At week 3, he has had a 5-6 pound loss and about 1/2 pound for me. But, we both feel our muscles getting stronger and we feel healthier.
I'm excited to continue with the program and try "new" foods. Now, if I could become more coordinated and balance myself the workouts would be easier!!
