Peru, NE Hello, at the young age of 48, I have decided I need to be in better shape. Judging from my picture, I waited a little too long to do something about it. Judging from my picture, I waited a little too long to do something about it. Honestly, I have none, nada, zip, no motivation when it comes to working out by myself. And you can see the results, I look disgusting. I contribute my weight gain to multiple failures on my part; I have a sedentary job (I don’t get up and move near as often as I should), I was diagnosed with cross between rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis, then a few years later, they added Fibromyalgia into the mix. I was never on a pity party, but I supposed I used the pain as an excuse to not work out (oh who am I kiddn’, I did). I did not want to hurt anymore than I already did. I had made a great attempt at doing Insanity with my husband (who has completed it three times) but I took a fall and had a deep bone bruise on my knee. My doctor put a halt to my exercise plan. Fast forward a few years, I am nearly 50 and I still look disgusting. I am now getting serious about my health and my weight. I don’t like the way I look and it is time I do something about it.
So at the tender age of 49 I am on a strong work out plan of P90X 7 days a week. Yesterday I had a friend ask me, what has Beachbody done for you? My response was, “Strength, mobility, the peace of mind that I won’t be in a wheel chair in my mid 50’s. Best of all, I was able to STOP taking ALL of my medications, (all 8 of them). I still have a long ways to go before I have reached my target goal and I can buy that Sexy Blue dress for the cruise, but I am much closer than I was two months ago. I want to be able to get down on the floor or the ground and play with my grandkids. I don’t want to be the grandma that has to have daddy lift the little tyke up into my lap so I can play with him/her”.
You have to ask yourself, what do you want and then you have to set the goals to go after it. I want to specific blue dress to wear on our cruise in December 2011, but more importantly, I want to be healthy and be able to spend time playing with my grandkids. I want to look nice when I put on my clothes and be able to tuck in my shirt rather than be embarrassed about my fat stomach.
So what has Beachbody done for me? It has given me confidence to take the first step in all aspects of a healthy lifestyle.
