I'm Katie--a 22 year old college student and Million Dollar Body Coach. I have a wonderful boyfriend, 2 cats and a very talkative parrot.

Transformation story

Since childhood I've struggled with my weight, and even at my thinnest I've had a high body fat. I was never "in shape" while I struggled to be thin--constantly losing and regaining the same 15 lbs More ...
Since childhood I've struggled with my weight, and even at my thinnest I've had a high body fat. I was never "in shape" while I struggled to be thin--constantly losing and regaining the same 15 lbs through extreme diets.
But after a particularly difficult year in which my health was the last of my priorities, I found myself 30 lbs heavier with more than 33% body fat. Although my BMI implied that I was just barely overweight, my body fat put me in the obese range! None of my clothes fit, I was exhausted all the time, I suffered migraines more than once a week and couldn't focus.
I needed change, and a crash diet was not the answer.
First, I saw a nutritionist who helped me make the decision to treat my health as a lifetime commitment. I started learning to cook healthy foods and cut out processed junk.
With my improved diet, I was feeling more energized and soon I felt brave enough to try exercise for the first time since high school.
Exercise was missing from all my past attempts at weight loss. I hated working out! In retrospect, I know that avoiding exercise wreaked havoc on my metabolism and contributed to my very low muscle mass and high body fat.
Last January, when I finally to make a permanent change, I was NOT excited about exercising. Still, I understood that fitness is part of being healthy, so cautiously, I tested out a few workout dvds.
Working out at home was a natural thing for me. I dreaded the gym and feared looking silly and out of shape in public, but at home I could push myself without worrying about what was going on around me. And I could get my workout in at any hour of the day--in my underwear if necessary!
Fortunately, I stumbled upon Turbo Jam early in my attempts at exercise. Had I not found such a fun program, I probably would have given up on fitness by now. It was, literally, love at first work out--which is something, considering my past hate for all things exercise! Turbo Jam is the sweatiest, most exciting, ab-butt-thigh and shoulder-burning party of a workout ever--and I can do it in the comfort of my own home. It destroyed all my preconceptions about exercise being a boring, uncomfortable chore. You might think I'm crazy, but I actually exercise *for fun* now!
I look forward to my work out, no joke.
With Turbo Jam I overcame my loathing for exercise, sweat and heart-pumping goodness. I lost weight, gained muscle and even branched out into other workouts!
I've used a Beachbody workout almost every day since I had that first Turbo Jam breakthrough. I've tried Slim in 6, Power 90, Hip Hop Abs and I'm working my way up to P90X.

It has been so exciting to watch my body transform--I don't just look "thin", I look fit and I love it!
But my transformation has been about more than just looking cute. I haven’t had a migraine since I started eating well and exercising, my aches and pains and inability to focus are things of the past.
I have almost as much energy as Chalene!

My quality of life is better than it’s ever been. Not only am I physically a hundred times healthier and happier than I was five months ago, I've become a braver, more adventurous person.
I've learned a bit about self-imposed limitations, and I'm beginning to see how far I can go.
What I'm up to now--
First, I got fit enough to wear a bikini on YouTube on June 7th, 2007. Turbo Jam and Slim Series got me there! Now I'm working on the Labor Day Swimsuit Challenge...

Second, law school. I took the LSAT in June 07 and scored in the 99th percentile. I'm applying in the fall! The motivation, discipline and passion that I've rediscovered in myself helped me ace the test will help me a great deal in law school and my future career.
