I’ve always had a metabolism that allowed me to eat just about anything I wanted, without the “need” to work out. This was great for me as I loved sweets, fried food and pasta. Of course I wasn’t More ...
I’ve always had a metabolism that allowed me to eat just about anything I wanted, without the “need” to work out. This was great for me as I loved sweets, fried food and pasta. Of course I wasn’t building muscle or getting fit, but I wasn’t gaining weight either. It got to the point that I would eat a full dinner and then go get a large peanut butter and chocolate shake for dessert. You can only eat 4000 calorie dinners for so long, before you start to see and feel the effects.

As I got older, I realized that my metabolism was changing. Sure it held off the effects for a while, but I was gaining fat and losing muscle. I started needing bigger belts and pants. I was tired all the time and just got exhausted playing around with the kids. Soon I found myself on blood pressure medication and buying a larger wedding ring. I knew I needed to do something.

Over the last couple of years I tried various workout programs and would go running from time to time. It would work for a while then I’d get bored, sick or lazy and that was a good enough excuse for me. The only thing that stuck long term was drinking soda less and diet soda when possible, but even that was a bit “flexible”. Most people I know would say that “healthy” wasn’t part of my vocabulary. I use to say, “If it’s healthy, I won’t eat it.” But that’s all changed!

I’ve always been a little skeptical of workout and diet programs. But when I saw the results in a friend of mine, I started to think that there might be something to these products from Beachbody. I discussed it over with my wife and we decided to commit to do the workout together. We chose the P90X workout and nutrition plan. It was difficult at first but I could feel and see some of the results even after the first couple of weeks. Muscles started to show where they weren’t before and my pants became less tight. I was amazed! This was something that actually worked! I would work out and be energized throughout the day. It wasn’t the same thing over and over again! I actually look forward to working out! I even found out that I don’t “hate” all those green vegetables I’ve avoided all these years! :)

For the first time, in a long time I feel good! I feel healthy! I lost 20 pounds and dropped my blood pressure. I no longer need to take meds to control it! It’s even strengthened my relationship with my wife, as we started this change together. It’s been transformational!
