Fort Worth, TX I am married and have been married for 16 years. Mark and I have one daughter, Leslie, that is 13 years old. I am 38 years and have Sjogren's Syndromeand Rhuematoid Arthritis. I was only diagnosed April of 2007 so I am still learning how this disease affects my body. I have, literally, taken my life into my hands and put it all on getting fit and loosing the weight. I was only diagnosed April of 2007 so I am still learning how this disease affects my body. I have, literally, taken my life into my hands and put it all on getting fit and loosing the weight. I am in hopes that with getting fit and loosing weight will not only help to hopefully get me off some of the medications, but prevent my health from being ruled by my disease, but instead for me to rule the disease!
In 2007, I succumb to my disease and got very depressed. With my depression came eating. (Yes, I am an emotional eater) I felt horrible. I was tired. Exhausted all the time! The further I gave into my disease, the deeper the depression, the more I ate. The disease causes inflammatino in my joints and the weight was making it worse. Enough was enough. I gained so much weight and topped out at a whopping 216 pounds.
I had heard so many great things about weight watchers and joined. I couldn't really afford it, but I couldn't afford a heart attack, the pain, the depression, all the medications and I, certainly, could not afford the pain it was bringing on my family. I have lost 56 pounds and have 20 more until my goal weight.
This last October I joined Lady of America gym and have been pushing myself! I am and will get this weight off and I will be healthier! Matter of a fact, I am now a certified Gold Ranking Hip Hop Hustle instructor.
2011 will be an exciting year for me! I have so many personal goals that I have set for myself and by years end there will be a new and improved, healthier Kerri!
Thanks for joining my team and let me know what I can do to help you, too, get healtier!

My weight loss journey started February 2009, but my story starts in 2008. March 2008, I was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome. I spent most of 2008 being depressed and feeling sorry for myself. I found comfort in solace in food. By early 2009, I blossomed to 216 pounds. My depression, arthritis, pain, inflammation and chronic fatigue were running ramped in my body.
In a routine rheumatologist appointment, my doctor told me, "In order to feel better, I am going to have to hurt more, but once the weight comes off, I will feel better." I started working out and I did hurt! I hurt bad! My body hurt so bad, I wanted to quit, but I had to trudge on! I had a mission to feel better and have more energy and I am not a quitter! I pushed through! I lost 10 pounds by just working out alone.
Phase II: Learn to eat right and get my daily intake in control! I joined weight watchers and the weight started coming off immediately! I have learned to make better food choices, how to cook better, great recipes and how to fight through cravings or my head saying I'm hungry, but my stomach saying No you aren't! I started February 2009 and I am 26 pounds from my goal weight!
Phase III: will begin once I make goal and have to start maintaining.
I have grown to love to work out. I have gotten to the point now that I feel so bad when I have to take a couple days off because, my body needs to recouperate. I still have bad days with my Sjogren's, but for the most part, I feel better, look better and have more energy!
