I grew up doing all kinds of sports, softball, track and cross county, basketball, and I even enjoyed sand volleyball for awhile. However, like most women I started having children and let my fitness go. I was never an obese person and I’m not sure I’ve ever even gone over my ideal weight but I just didn’t feel good in my own body anymore. So eight years ago I started doing yoga because I didn’t have to wear shoes or sweat! I tried various diet “plans” and none of them were healthy. I did lose a lot of weight and at one time was under my ideal weight. I was also tired and sick a lot. I soon realized that being skinny does not mean I am healthy. So I started focusing on being healthy, eating organic and the right kinds of fats (in moderation) as well as what foods to avoid . Then I began doing some resistance training along with more cardio while I continued yoga for flexibility. I used Turbo Jam with the hand weights and even though it is a workout it just feels like a party! It is so much fun. I now am a very healthy more balanced person. I still LOVE yoga but I’m enjoying lifting weights and seeing a bicep (tiny but it’s still there!) I have recently started using P90X and I LOVE the Plyo workout. I’m hoping to be able to do 10 pullups soon. I also enjoy Hip Hop Abs, Slim in 6 and want to try Yoga Booty Ballet soon. I am in the best shape of my life and I just turned 40! I realized that you just have to make a commitment to yourself to be fit and then do it. Because of my choice my husband and children are healthier too!
