In addition to my full time job as an executive assistant at a public accounting firm, I also usher at Colts games (love it!) and sell tickets at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I love to read suspense books, watch All My Children (since I was a kid), as well as shows like CSI, Law and Order, NCIS, Bones, Burn Notice, and Dancing with the Stars. I love going to concerts and the move to Indianapolis provides a lot more opportunity to see my favorites.

In 2001 I started working out as I was heavier than I had ever been. I added exercise first but quickly discovered for me that exercise alone was not enough as I didn't drop any weight. It took awhile for me to get portions correct but I joined an online program which helped me with following a hypoglycemic eating planning and learning portion control. The other key for me is to keep a journal of my eating as that is when I'm the most successful.
In April 2006 I had reached my weight goal -- a 50 pound weight loss. My employer is very supportive of preventive health (partly so we're healthy and can work more!) and reimburses us annually for wellness items -- gym membership, weight loss programs, smoking cessation, fitness DVD's, etc. They also provide healthy snacks at the office free of charge.
Once I was in better shape, I discovered Beachbody (I wish I had discovered it earlier!). Power 90 was the first program I purchased and a friend and I worked the program together. Then I learned about Turbo Jam and hosted a Turbo Jam house party. I fell in love with the Turbo Jam workouts and I own all of them -- I was a regular Beachbody customer! I do believe TJ helped me turn things around and I always tell people that it is important to find something that you enjoy doing so that it won't seem like a chore to exercise.
Memorial Day 2007 I ran my first 10K and did fantastic but running has never been my favorite mode of exercise but I was proud of myself for my accomplishment.
In the fall of 2008, due to some health issues I battled extreme fatigue and reached a point I was no longer able to work out. Basically all I did was work, sleep and eat (ice cream was my friend). I gradually gained all my weight which just made me sick as I was in the best shape I had ever been in. FINALLY in August of 2009 I was diagnosed with Sjoegren's Syndrome and the medication they put me on gave me my life back.
In January 2010 I started working out again using my Turbo Jam DVD's and eating healthy. It was discouraging to feel so out of shape after having come so far but I stuck with it as I knew what I was capable of. Then in February when I felt some of my stamina had returned, I started the 90 day Chalean Extreme program and completed it with great results. I'm happy to report that at the end of July I had lost 40 pounds (my goal is 45 this time around).
I started the Insanity program on July 8, 2010 and hope to lose the last 5 pounds and tone up even more. It is definitely the most intense workout I've ever done but I am so thrilled with how I'm doing. My fatigue still rears its ugly head from time to time but this time around, I've been able to fight through it.
Eating healthy and working out is the key!
