I was an active individual throughout most of my life,
participated in basketball, baseball, track and field, cross
country, and other sports just to try and stay active. In
1997 I graduated from high school, and I joined the United
States Coast Guard in August of 1997, and was experiencing
life like I had not before…well in March of 1998, I hurt
myself on the job and at the time did not know I had a
herniated disk in my L4-L5 region of my spine. It wasn’t
until a year later that it was discovered. I began to
notice that my lack of activity due to my pain and still
continued to eat as normal, not a good combination, was
causing me to gain weight. Well, fast forward to 2000, I
had surgery on my herniated disk, but was still lacking
exercise, still gaining weight. Well in 2001 I was released
from the Coast Guard due to my inability to serve on a ship.
Well needless to say, leading a sedentary lifestyle was not
me, I tried to fight my way back into shape, I would lose my
10 - 15 pounds several times throughout the years, but gain
it back. So I was riding my roller coaster on the
GainWeight Express. Each year I would develop exercise
routines that included arms, legs, back, and abs, but I
could never stick with it long enough, like I said, just
enough to lose 10 – 15 pounds, and then stop. As of March
2008, I reached my max weight of 245 pounds. I say max
weight, because I began to make some major changes, such as
my eating habits. Well just like every other year, 2008 was
no different. I began yet another resolution of eating
healthier, but by March of 2008, I recognized, I had been on
course to eating more greens and healthier. I had stuck
with my portion control diet, and doing quite well, still
lacking in much physical activity. Well, I continued to try
my developed regiments, but tough to do with Family, Massage
School 3 Nights a week, a full-time job I found it hard to
fit it in. Well, in May of 2008, I woke up on a Sunday
Morning and P90 X was on T.V., and after looking at it, I
thought hey, why not…and as of August 2008, I have lost 31
pounds. As of August 1, 2008, I currently weigh 214 pounds
and feeling great. I have been able to abide by the WOWY
calendar, I enter my information and it keeps me on track.
I participate with WOWY as often as I can, but still I work
out even if I can’t work in WOWY. I keep to the routines as
scheduled and just dedicate myself regardless of the time or
schedule conflicts. I now prioritize my life better and
ensure that my fitness is a high priority. I want my
children to see that it can be achieved, anything can be
achieved if we just keep moving forward, D.D.D.
