Hi, my name is Francisco Marques. I live in Sunnyvale, CA, with my wife Sandra and our son Kevin. Growing up, I never really had any interest in fitness or nutrition. In my late teens I started jogging, and practicing Karate and Aikido. Then I joined the Military Police in Brazil in 1986 and became more interested in a healthy life style. My weight was 146 pounds. During my 12 years in the force I was in good shape. In 1998 I moved to San Francisco and ended up becoming too involved with my work and stopped paying attention to myself. Bad eating habits, lots of soda and coffee, working late hours... well, you know, soon I was weighing 204 pounds(!)... feeling tired, heavy and sluggish. I started playing tennis in 2008 about two or three times per week (60 to 90 minutes each session) as an effort to get back in shape. Not enough. At about that time I saw the infomercials for P90X. Eventually I ended up doing the program and after three months I had lost 30 pounds (down to 174 pounds). The best part though is that I was feeling so much better about myself... now knowing that I could face that kind of challenge and prevail. But somehow I was expecting more from P90X! I didn't go for a second round... then I became too comfortable... and soon enough I was no longer exercising regularly (except tennis). I gained 15 pounds back! Last December I saw INSANITY and Shaun T on TV and decided to give it a try. I am now on day 54 (2/7/10) of the program and have already shredded 11 pounds (down to 178 pounds). I've been eating better (thanks to my TB coach, Rachel!) and my goal is to lose 8 more pounds and keep it that way... and I have no intention to stop exercising. Ever!
