Spicewood, TX I'm 42 years old, male, 5'8", 155lbs. A few years ago I decided I was going to be able to see my abs by my 40th birthday. I hadn't ever seen them, prior to this and I had 4 months to get it done.
At the time, I was wearing extra baggy, 34" pants which required a 36" belt to help "fit" correctly. The pants were kind of tight.

So... I started eating somewhat better, cutting calories, etc. I bought a pair of Bowflex Selectech dumbbells, a weight bench and some books on fitness. I did a bunch of different routines through those months and, when the birthday came up, I could see the outlines of #5/6 muscles. 1-4 were clearly defined.
I've been through P90X, several times (a year and a half worth). When I saw the infomercials the first time, I thought "no way..." I'm now doing P90X+ and, YES WAY! I'm in the best shape of my life, period. I have more range of motion, power, strength, endurance, flexibility and balance than what I have ever had, before.
I still have a lot of areas that need improvement... flexibility, range of motion and coordination are still "big problems", for me - although someone looking at me, from the outside, might not always think that... I'm driven to go from the "best shape of my life" to WAY better than that!
I'm now eating better, after committing 90-days to doing ONLY the P90X eating program. I sort of got hooked on eating a LOT better. Now, "eating out" makes me sort of sick to my stomach to even think about. I like making stuff from scratch - everything, in fact. Thta's helped in so many different areas.
As a coach, I'm ready to help others, with their routines - no matter which, and hope that I can encourage them to do, as Tony says, "Do your best and forget the rest..." It's that easy... to work to make the progression of things, each day, better than it was the day before. Not perfect, but better...

My story... 40 years of "working from one side of my body" is really it. 21 years on a farm, using the same side of my body to perform moves, over and over again made me somewhat "unbalanced".
When I started P90X I was horribly uncoordinated, couldn't do many of the moves. I was weak on one side, "strong" on the other. Because of early injuries and having to do the farm work while I was hurt, I compensated a LOT. As a result, I had weak shoulders, horribly weak core (I couldn't do but 10 reps of the Ab Ripper X forever), among other things.
Since starting P90X my ability to be "ambidextrous" has improved immensely. I actually sort look, now, like I'm doing Kenpo and not like a spastic monkey on crack. It's slowly getting better.
Yoga was impossible, for me, to start with. My hips were incredibly "tight" and any of the triangle poses caused not only horrid sounding "pops", which also hurt, but the muscles would, literally, torque me back straight. I can now do those poses though, at times, they're not always pretty, the general progression is that each time I attempt, I achieve some more.
Future Plans - work till it's effortless. I WANT 20 pullups each time I do a pullup set. I WANT 30 pushups... I WANT flexibility and range of motion. I want balance and coordination and I am going to get them.
