Hello! My name is Katie, I’m 27 years old, and I’m addicted to BEACH BODY :P
A little about me – I come from a family of 7 kids, and in my household, nutrition was not something we talked about. It was hard enough to make ends meet with that many mouths to feed that cheap was often chosen over quality. But because I was active in high school, I never saw any negative effects. I was a cheerleader, a dancer, a softball player, and I also performed in a couple school musicals. Life was good!
When I got to college, I noticed that since I didn’t have a very healthy foundation, I got a bit out of control. I was eating everything and anything, drinking, and not taking care of myself. By 2006, I weighed in at 165 pounds, the highest weight of my life.
I got my first job after college working for a very tiny marketing firm. A big project given to me was to help put together some marketing materials for a bariatric surgery group in the area (gastric bypass surgeons). So my first task was to call up successful patients, hear their stories, and deem whether or not they would be a good candidate to put on camera.
It was such a wonderful experience – I chose about 8 different candidates and got to meet them all in person. And their stories were just AMAZING! So many people think that surgery is a “quick fix” – when in reality, it takes a complete life revamp to be truly successful. I listened to these incredible people talk about HUNDREDS of pounds they needed to lose, and they stepped up the plate, changed their diet, changed their exercise habits, and changed their lives! And who am I to complain about 30 vanity pounds? Why can’t I take control of my life like that?
After the 1st day of filming, I went home, got on the treadmill, and have not stopped working out since! Fitness and health has become an absolute passion for me because I see so many people out there like I used to be - not living their lives to the fullest, hiding behind their bodies. Life is too short and that is no way to live! Since I started getting healthy, I have never been happier or more confident in my life. And I want to share my passion with others! I tend to rub off on people :)
My first Beach Body program was Insanity – I started in March 2011 and finished up on May 21, 2011. I had fantastic results, due in large part to this amazing team I found to motivate me – Team Engage. I would encourage everyone to join a message board – it is truly the only reason I pushed play most days.
As of now, I’m working on training for a half marathon while throwing in some Hip Hop Abs and Brazil Butt Lift in between. Later this summer, I’m considering becoming a coach and helping people through another round of Insanity!
I love to talk fitness, so please! Hit me up for anything!
