My name is Krist Voiles, and I started the P90X Classic series back in late October of '08. I had never heard of Beachbody's products until my wife decided to buy Turbo Jam in May '08 to get her fitness level up and lose some weight. I remember her telling me about the product and she seemed really excited (and nervous) about trying it. I think she was trying not to get her hopes up but felt like she needed to try something, anything, to change her physical fitness and eating habits. After losing more than the advertised "10 lbs/10 inches in 10 days", I think we both started to believe there might be something to this! I was very impressed with the progress she made through Turbo Jam and she wanted to take it to the next level by starting the P90X program by some guy named Tony Horton who "really seems to know his stuff" (as Jude put it). We began the program together, and I must say that even after the first couple of weeks, I was convinced this program was going to work. I've been in much better shape than I have been in years! This program really takes fitness to a whole new level.
After 3 rounds of P90X, 1 round of P90X+ and Insanity, I am now working through the TurboFire/ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid program! Once I complete this, I will be combining all of these programs (and including some of Tony Horton's One on One series) to put together a hybrid program of my own, based on the P90X/ChaLEAN Extreme model. On day one I weighed in at 180lbs and had a 33" waist. I wasn't very overweight for a 5'6" guy but I was getting a spare tire around my middle and I hadn't seen my abs in a few years. My fitness level was also very low as I hadn't worked out at all for a long time.
During the first 30 days of P90X, I didn't notice too many changes in how my body looked but my fitness levels had definitely increased. The scales were moving though. By days 45-60 I started to see changes, specifically in my waistline. By day 90 I was overwhelmed by the results! I was down to 140lbs and my waist had dropped 6" to 27". My body fat percentage had dropped from 24% to 9%! I have now done 3 rounds of P90X (Classic), 1 round of P90X+, a round of Insanity and 2 hybrid rounds I created from all of these programs and the One on One series by Tony Horton.
I just finished the new TurboFire program by Chalene Johnson. I followed the hybrid version of the program which incorporates workouts from the ChaLEAN Extreme program to make a hybrid of the two programs. I then followed that up with another round of P90X Classic. After a couple weeks of recovery, I'm now back at it with ChaLEAN Extreme! :)
I also follow the Primal Blueprint diet, created by Mark Sisson (www.marksdailyapple.com). I've never been as fit as I am now...and I turn 40 this coming October! :)
