I am the Mother of 2 incredible children, a teacher, a student (working on my Master's), a volunteer to 2 not for profit organizations that assist our Nation's Wounded Warriors and families of the Fallen, and a single parent. My husband was KIA in Afghanistan in 2005. Before my husband's death, I worked out regularly (I was a stay at home mom) and after his death, I began to run... When I ran, it was the only time I did not think and yet when I was finished, my mind was so much clearer...if that makes any sense. I ran several major races (including the Army 10 miler) with several other military widows...we ran for our husbands. I have had to go back to work and since that time, exercise has not been a regular part of my life...and as I result, I have gained some weight. I keep a very active life...constantly on the go with the children's sports, my studies, volunteer work, travel when we can and life in general...but miss how I feel when I exercise. I am a better Mom, teacher..just a better person, in general, when I exercise. I want to be a better example to my children but due to our crazy schedules, the only time I can work out regularly is in the very early morning. I know I will need encouragement to keep me motivated, and to keep me on track. I tend to feel guilty when I do things for myself and this is for me...I want to look better, feel better and just generally be better. But I know this is the right thing!
