Hi, my name is Lita De La Cruz and at 54, I feel pretty healthy and fit and very happy with life. I have two beautiful daughters, Leslie and Rachel and 3 amazing granddaughters, Mailena, Malia and Makani. I exercise on a regular basis with Turbo Jam and Lean Extreme classes, yoga, and walking. Chalene Johnson and Monica Gray are my inspirations. They've taught me so much about leading a healthy lifestyle, commitment and hardwork. It's so worth getting up at 5 am to workout with them. I am more fit today than I was 20 years ago. It hasn't been an easy journey to get here, but I hope to set an example for others in my age group and inspire others just like Chalene and Monica does, that it's never too late to start now. I'm excited about being a coach in knowing that I can help others get fit, too.

I struggled with a weight problem from my adolescent years to adulthood, fluctuating between 30 to 40 lbs over my ideal weight. I was always being teased about my weight growing up. My “aha moment” More ...
I struggled with a weight problem from my adolescent years to adulthood, fluctuating between 30 to 40 lbs over my ideal weight. I was always being teased about my weight growing up. My “aha moment” came when I was diagnosed with hypertension at the age of 33. Basically my doctor told me if I didn’t make a lifestyle change, I may not live to see my daughters all grown up. That put a scare in me. It was time to make a major lifestyle change. I took my health condition very seriously. So I decided to make the commitment to learn how to eat right and incorporate exercise. I admit it was hard at first, trying every latest diet and exercise program that came out. I finally made the commitment to be accountable for my health by writing down what I ate and tracking my workouts. It's amazing to see it all in writing and to see the progress I was making. I soon became hooked on becoming healthy. I started seeing changes in my body as the weight came off, but most of all I felt so much better about myself. It took me approximately 6 months to drop the 40 lbs that I had been carrying around for so long. Exercise became a regular part of my daily routine. Then life threw me a curve ball. I was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago. As you can imagine, it was a very emotional and stressful time in my life. I think for most, when you experience something so life changing, the healthy eating and exercise fall by the wayside. But for me keeping up with my exercise program and healthy eating during that time, gave me inner strength and helped me deal with the decisions I had to make. Shortly after my surgery, I moved to So. Calif, joined a gym and met my coach Monica. She doesn’t know this, but she became my fitness idol. I was so impressed with how fit she is, how she pushes you to really work hard and her total commitment. Not too long ago, I met another amazing, enthusiastic, motivating person and who is truly dedicated in helping others become healthy and fit. She is Chalene Johnson. I believe in her exercise programs and they are helping me stick to my commitment. My current goal is to reduce body fat and become lean and strong, so that my next 20-30 years will continue to be fantastic!
