I found love at the ripe age of fifteen and have been with my high school sweetheart since 1996. When I was a sophomore in high school I was 5'1'', 105 and was a size 3. That was my PEEK. I was never a size 0 because I naturally have a large frame for my height. Anyway, back then I Hi my name is Liz and I am a 28 year old mother of 3 wonderful kids. Valerie is 11, Britney is 7 and Ethan is 2. I found love at the ripe age of fifteen and have been with my high school sweetheart since 1996. When I was a sophomore in high school I was 5'1'', 105 and was a size 3. That was my PEEK. I was never a size 0 because I naturally have a large frame for my height. Anyway, back then I never had to workout but I was in dance. Not the kind of dance you may think. I was actually involved in Pilipino Cultural Dancing and I loved it. It was like a family thing. That was my only form of exercise. My diet wasn't nearly as bad back then. I grow up being more of a snacker eating probably 5-6 meals a day which consisted of oatmeal for breakfast on the weekday, drinking skim milk, not adding salt to anything, and not eating any red meat. I was more a chicken, (white meat and no skin) and fish person. It wasn't until I got together with my husband Eric back in 1996 that I started eating steak, drinking vitamin D milk, burgers, all kinds of fattening Filipino food and having 3 huge meals a day. That in was the start of my poor eating habits. I had my eldest daughter when I was 17 and lost all my pregnancy weight with no problem. I was back down to 110 in no time. Mainly because I was raising my daughter pretty much buy myself, (my parents whom we lived with, kept a safe distance and my husband was still just my boyfriend at that time and still living with his parents), nursing, working hard to finish high school and stress. I was slim but an unhealthy, flabby slim. After every proceeding pregnancy I've gained more and it's been harder for me to loose the weight. I gained so much with my second daughter. I went from a flabby 110 up to fat 136 and was on the weight-gain rollercoaster where I struggled to get back down. My life at that time was pretty busy and stressful. I was raising my 5 year old daughter, trying hard to finish college, gave birth and was also raising my second daughter, and was planning my wedding practically single-handedly. It was rough and I remember how stressed out I was. On top of all that I was having a very hard time getting rid of my pregnancy weight. In fact, I was gaining more then I was losing because I started taking a different form of birth control called Depo-Provera. Wow, I was enormous and ended up weighing 145 because of it. Needless to say, I finally switched birth control. It was so difficult for me to look into the mirror and even make eye contact with myself. I was completely disgusted and because of my diminishing self-esteem I was beginning to hate myself. I had lost all hope and finally just gave up on my weight loss battle. Then there it was…the light at the end of the tunnel. BEACHBODY.COM…You’re closer then you think. I first discovered Beachbody in 2002 while watching a late night infomercial for Slim in 6. I was so impressed with the success stories and the timeframe that I bought the program without any hesitation. I figured that if those people could do it, why couldn't I. I was so excited when I finally received my package in the mail. I began skimming through the materials and popped in the first DVD. As stubborn as I am I figured that I didn't need to read thoroughly through every thing, as long as I just did the workouts. I didn't utilize any of the helpful tools that Beachbody has to offer. I didn’t even rake a before picture or measurements. What was I thinking? I was doing the workouts but I wasn't even doing them consistently. I never changed my eating habits which consisted of lots of sweets, fast food, soda and pretty much anything that could be cooked in the microwave. I was beginning to slim down a bit but not enough to convince me to continue on. That is probably my one regret. Not taking the program seriously and not sticking with it back in 2002. I just went back to hating myself and the way I looked and not doing anything about it. Miraculously in 2004, after being a stay-at-home mom for two years out of college, I still managed to dig up enough confidence to land a great job with a very reputable semi-conductor company which relocated my family of four to the greater northwest area, Oregon. Aside from all of the beautiful scenery and the opportunity to build a secure life for my family, there was still something missing. I was still unhappy with how I was looking and was beginning to feel very weak, lazy and depressed. I found my Slim in 6 DVDs and once again started doing the workouts, exactly the same way I had done them before. The wrong way! I was taking TrimSpa, eating horribly and started slimming down again and got down to 136. With that weight loss came murphy’s law and yes, I got pregnant with my son in 2006. My pre-pregnancy weight before my son was 136 and I reached a high of 181 at the end of my pregnancy. :-( After my son was born in 2007 my weight was fluctuating between 140-150. I was working a 12 hour night shift schedule and had to drop off my girls at school in the morning and then take care of my boy, while trying to get some sleep so I could repeat that whole cycle all over again. I never had any me time and quite frankly didn’t think I deserved or earned it.I felt that I was failing as a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and an employee. I was wallowing in my own self pity.I had been diagnosed with depression and was prescribed 100mg of Zoloft. I felt like I lost myself and was unhappy with myself. It’s now 2009 and my son is now 2 years old. I was still tipping the scale at 150 lbs. on March 1,2009.I started Slim in 6 for the third time, this time after reading the materials. It was a pretty rocky start but with the help of a group of ladies I met through the message board I am still continuing my journey.I learned that exercise alone will not make much of a dent, that diet and taking supplements was a necessity.I even became a coach in late March and would love to help you.
