I am 44 years old, husband of 20 years to my wife Molly, and father to our children Austin (14), and Allie (9). I have worked for the same company for 21 years since graduating from Washington State University with a degree in Hotel Administration. I work for Marriott International and for the last 10 years I have been a General Manager for our Courtyard by Marriott brand in the San Francisco Bay area.
We live in the Tracy, located in the central valley where we are close to both the mountains for downhill skiing and the infamous Delta for wakeboarding. While I have always been active and enjoyed participating in my favorite past times after finding beachbody and their outstanding programs I have been able to take my fitness and thus my enjoyment of these to new levels.
I picked up my nickname “Load” for obvious reasons from my fraternity brothers. Back in the day it could be used in many ways to describe me during those years, full load, fat load, heavy load etc. While I have made great changes in recent months I like keeping the nickname as it reminds me of what I have accomplished and it can still apply, light load, slim load, etc. LOL
I look forward to continuing my journey to see where it takes me. I hope that people realize that they can make a change if they so desire, but it is however up to you and it can happen with the help beachbody.

It seems I have always struggled with weight most of my life. My first real experience was playing football in 6th grade when I had to play a division up from all my friends because I weighed too much. I did manage to thin as a high school senior by jogging and running cross country, then I went off to college and discovered beer, pizza and frat house cooking! Like many I continued to struggle with my weight throughout college and even after. I topped out at a then high weight of around 250 pounds about a year after getting married to my wonderful wife Molly. At that time I got motivated and went on a diet and exercise regime and dropped down to 185 pounds, eventually gaining weight back as I added muscle. I managed to maintain my pant size and stay in shape over the next 5 years by working out hard and participating in other outside sports activities of skiing and mountain biking.
Once we decided to have children I noticed myself spending less time in the gym or exercising in anyway, naturally wanting to spend more time at home. This sort of behavior continued on and off over the next 13 years as our family grew. I still managed to stay relatively active and not look too large as being tall at 6’3” I was able to carry the weight fairly well. In the winter of 2006 I fell and dislocated my shoulder in the parking lot of our local ski hill. While I did follow the rehab program and was back behind the boat wakeboarding in about 6 weeks, the injury really kept me from doing much for quite awhile. Those last two years I continued to pack on the pounds which added to working out less and less and I finally found myself in February of 2008 weighing in at almost 280 pounds.
A few of my friends had started working out with P90X and their progress and success was posted on a wakeboarding discussion board site I frequent. It was very inspiring and interesting and got me to look at the program. I knew that I could not start off with the X so I ordered Tony’s P90 and began my journey on March 1st of 2008!! I pushed play everyday and had lost 20 pounds in six weeks. I noticed huge gains in my energy levels, I was sleeping better, felt better overall and my clothes began to get looser and I started to fit into the size 38 pants I still had in my closet. I continued to push play with P90 for over 100 days and 40 pounds and then ordered P90X.
I started the X for about a week before taking off on a 10 day family trip to the lake, I did manage to fit in 3 workouts as well as a few hikes, and daily wakeboarding sets, I actually returned a pound lighter than when I left.
I then restarted the X on July 7th 2008; currently I have 3 more weeks left in my classic cycle ( I did extend phase one by an additional week ). I am down an additional 25 pounds for a total of 65 pounds loss. I have dropped from a very tight size 40 pants to a 34.
Tony Horton, Beachbody, P90X and my wonderful family have enabled me to get in to the best shape of my life. More importantly I look and feel fantastic, I have the energy to do the things I want to do, and my family is very proud of me.
I was recently at a wakeboarding event with a club that I participate in when I had a chance to see many friends and acquaintances. Some folks that had not seen me since my transformation began came up to me and said that they did not recognize me the first time the saw me. Needless to say it made my day, and then I of course started telling them how I did it with BeachBody!!
I still struggle to make the right choices everyday, but I continue to grow and learn each day also. I look forward to continued progress and success with BeachBody and P90X.
