As a young girl I was always exposed to fitness, but not always healthy living. Both parents were very active, but didn't always eat the best foods. My mom loved fad diets! Plenty of times the family ate weird food combinations! When I entered college I had no idea how to eat right. I was still active, playing racquetball, running and doing aerobics. Processed and fried foods were ruining any activity I did. The summer of my freshman year I chose to do one of those fad diets my mom was always trying. I lost the weight, but it was a lifestyle I couldn't maintain. I needed to learn how to be active and how to properly re-fuel my body and mind. I moved to South Carolina where I finished my schooling and met the most amazing people, including my husband of 8 years! I became involved in a local gym where I met people who taught me how to look and feel healthy through realistic amounts of activity and refueling my body with proper nutrition. I also obtained my first of MANY certifications to teach fitness classes. I obtained my degree in Health Promotion/Sports Medicine and became pregnant with my first child! I wanted to make sure I was not only fit, but healthy for my pregnancy. I learned the importance of not only being active, but eating right. I now live a lifestyle that promotes activity and healthy eating!
