I am a full-time human resources manager with a busy schedule. I have two girls at home yet and another daughter twenty-four who is on her own with two children. I have always had to watch what I eat. I went through a chubby stage as an adolescent, got better in the teen years, married and had a child fairly early and then struggled with my weight again, got better a few years later, more kids, struggle again, up and down like a roller coaster. Years ago I could simply reduce portion size and still eat whatever I wanted. Over the last several years I have realized that doesn't work anymore and only got more and more frustrated because I was always hungry, must be the age thing that changes the ability to just reduce portion size. I have almost always been very disciplined about working out, I do it at home and am very consistent. I have always worked a demanding full-time job and know myself enough that it has to be the first thing I do when I walk in the door or it isn’t likely to happen. If I make dinner or start doing anything else it is too easy to say it's too late now. I shoot for 4 workouts a week, Tuesday and Thursday after work and Saturday and Sunday usually mid-morning. For the last several years my workouts have been The Firm videos with weights or a 4 mile run on the treadmill, which I felt were pretty good workouts.

Last June I was to a point where I was very dissatisfied with my physical state. I was in a size 12 (some were even tight), I didn't feel fit and kept thinking I have to do something different. I am a shopper and didn’t even enjoy it much anymore if I was going to be trying on clothes. So I was sitting on the couch one Sunday morning with my daughter and this infomercial came on about Turbo Jam. I thought "I need a new workout and this looks like fun" so I ordered it along with the meal planner. I was a skeptical because I had ordered workouts from ads in the past and they would always come with a disclaimer about your diet and drinking enough water. I always wondered if it was the workout or changing your diet that was really effective. Then I looked closer at the meal planner and realized that I liked many of the foods listed. I thought if I don’t try it I’ll never know if it would work or not so I went to the grocery store and bought many of the necessary ingredients to get me through at least a week. The program encourages you to enter your measurements so you can see your progress, but I didn’t do it because I was skeptical as to whether it would work or not and I didn’t really want to know my measurements at that point, especially if they weren’t going to change much (I regret that I didn’t do that). I made up my mind I would do the workouts and meal planner for at least two weeks. Much to my surprise I lost 6 pounds in the first week and needless to say this was my motivator to keep it up. I lost 3 pounds in the second week, and 3 pounds again in the third week, so now I had lost 12 pounds in three weeks and I was eating a lot of food. And the workouts were FUN!. I would be sitting at work, hearing the music in my head and anxious for the day to be over so I could go home and work out. I often think the things you hear the person on TV or the video say are full of “fluff” but when Chalene says “you know that feeling of euphoria you have when you had a really good workout”, it is so true. I lost a total of 26 pounds over a 3 month period and in the three months following that can tell I have firmed up a lot, decreased another belt notch or two and now people are starting to notice. I dropped as far as a size 6 in some clothes and some a size 8. I have never ever been a size 6! I have never felt better, I tuck my shirts in, wear belts and actually look forward to putting on a swim suit. Eating right can be really tough, especially when others around you are eating pizza or a butter burger or French fries and they smell so good. I keep thinking about the scale and how my clothes fit and I find things that I like to satisfy my cravings. I pack my breakfast and lunch every day for work and have found eating out isn’t as much of a challenge as you think. You feel like a pain in the butt to the waitress when you ask for variations such as veges instead of fries, no sauce, etc. but it IS feasible. I have had more fun shopping in the last couple months than I ever have and nothing could make me go back to my old ways. Thank you Turbo Jam!
