katy, TX I am 57 years young, and I want to start feeling "athletic" again. I am a former Physical Education teacher and coach, so I should have known better than to let my body get in the shape it's in. I have gained back nearly 40 pounds over the last 30 months, after having gotten my weight to my high school football days. I have gained back nearly 40 pounds over the last 30 months, after having gotten my weight to my high school football days. Of course, I didn't get into the same physical condition as I was then. Over the last 30 months, I have experienced a lot of personal loss, starting with my mom in '07, a friend in '08, my brother, cousin, and dog in '09, and culminating with my dad's passing in January of this year. My mom's illness seems to be the trigger to my recent weight gain, and the fact that I didn't have a suit that fit for my dad's funeral was the trigger to my "once and for all, I'm gonna get back in shape" rebirth! I am divorced and live alone. I work a very irregular schedule, so irregular that my body doesn't know when it's time to sleep and time to wake. I spend most of my free time helping my step-daughter with her 5 year old son and invalid mother(my ex). I am a member of 24 Hour Fitness, and I have been going to the gym regularly...4-5 times per week over the last month or so, mixing up resistance with cardio on the elliptical maching. I purchased P90X nearly 2 years ago, and was finally inspired by a facebook friend of mine to quit waiting and "just do it". So, here I am. I'm not sure I'm physically ready for P90X, but I am mentally. I may have to do a lot of modifying, and my program may take longer than 90 days. But, hey, as someone said, "I don't call it P90X, I call it P-LifetimeX.

I am 6', 234 lbs. As recently as July, 2007, I was 195 lbs. I had gone from size 38 jeans to 36, and now I squeeze into my 38's.(some I can't wear). I will not buy 40's!!! My 36's are begging to be worn. My short term goal is to wear my 36's within 6 months. Weight loss will be a bonus, but all this excess adipose tissue has got to go. At this point, anything less will be unacceptable. I do need to be acutely aware of my tendency to overtrain, rendering my drive to train day after day to be altered, due to soreness and fatique.
