I am a fitness enthusiast and have been most of my life, with a few bumps in the road.
About a year ago I was injured after years of working out. I recently found out from an MRI it is tendinitis of my shoulder. During the past year, I have on and off lifted heavy... STUPID!! I didn't realize that if I actually let the injury go for awhile without irritation it will eventually heal. My Physical Therapist told me this today as she convinced me to lift light to maintain strength and to do the PT exercises until I am injury free. This is a HUGE step for me. I love lifting and I love Turbo Fire but for a month or maybe quite a bit longer they are out of the question. Well, I can lift light, like I said.
I also recently gained a ton of weight from being put on a medication for bipolar. Unfortunately it is the only medication I have found to work and when I tried going off of it, I shortly thereafter attempted to take my life. So, I am back on the medication. It does terrible things to my appetite. Recently I was put on two appetite suppressants just to make my appetite "normal" because I often felt like I would vomit as I tried to sleep due to incredible hunger from the Serequoel.
I am currently on a lower dose of Serequoel. Have been for about a week, and have also been able to stop my appetite suppressants as a result! Woot Woot! It is so exciting to feel in control again. Another problem with the Serequoel is that it often slows metabolism, so makes it extremely hard to lose weight even on the lower dose and with a normal appetite.
I have had to work out like crazy to lose 39 pounds so far! Mostly in the last 3 months. I have started doing Turbo Fire, but like I said, need to take a break from it. I am also doing Brazil Butt LIft and will make that my primary program as it is mostly lower body work and I am able to modify the program. I enjoy running as well, and attempt to do wind sprints and interval training twice a week along with a "long" run once a week. I still need to find a 5k for October of this year. I should be constistently running 5 miles one day per week for about a month by then.
So, my journey will be MUCH easier once the tendinitis heals. AND it will heal; it just needs time. Until then I will be doing Brazil Butt Lift along with my runs, biking on the stationary bike, using the eliptical, and lifting light arm weights, including my physical therapy exercises.
I also do my best to eat clean. But as Yoda says, "Don't try. Do." I am aiming for a large salad for lunch and a large salad for dinner, loaded with fresh veggies. This is easier when I am actually home!
Please follow the blog I will be starting on my fitness journey.
I have about 24 more pounds to lose and this will be the first time I've lost the weight without starvation. I've gained weight from medications in the past, I think always the Serequoel. Unfortunately that's the nasty side effect. Fortunately I'm now on a dose that no longers creates an out of control appetite. And it's still working. I do believe it still slows my metabolism, but probably less so. It just means I must work harder to get to goal and then maintain it.
I have struggled with an eating disorder for years, since I was a teenager, the reason for all of the starvation and for at one point in my life being severely underweight.
That is behind me. With beachbody's programs and a healthy eating plan I will do this AND do it in a positive, inspiring way!
