I am 40 years old, and I have two daughters, Sophia, who is 10, and Anna, who is 6. I am an attorney. In the past two years, my whole life has changed. I have suffered through everything from a terrible divorce to a herniated disc in my back (which, thankfully, resolved with about 8 weeks of physical therapy and no surgery), and have been to the brink of financial disaster not only because of the divorce, but also because the two lawyers I practiced with at my law firm decided to leave me and start their own company. I have been divorced since June, 2008, suffered the back injury in May, 2008, and had the two lawyers left the firm just last month.
You could say I have it rock bottom, and it is time for me to turn it around. I try to see what I have been through as inspiration and life lessons to get me over "the hump." I have a renewed sense of drive to get myself in shape, not only physically, but also mentally and spiritually. I have a new woman in my life who is absolutely amazing, and I am looking at my law firm situation as an opportunity to finally do it my way, without two other lawyers throwing roadblocks up when they should be helping. I hired two new lawyers to work for me, making it clear that it is my company, and they have been fantastic. No more excuses. It is going to be done the right way this time around, or no way at all.
I am in the scary beginning phases all the way around - new life after divorce, new company starting from the ground up, and am at the one-year mark since the back injury with no additional problems.
I guess its now or never.
